Life360's $8 Pet Tag vs Pet GPS: what each one does.

Life360's $8 Pet Tag vs Pet GPS: what each one does. Life360 has launched a $7.99 Pet Tag that gives owners a cheaper alternative to its Pet GPS tracker, but the two products do very different jobs. The tag works only after someone finds a pet and scans its QR code, while Pet GPS can actively track an animal that has wandered away. Life360 announced the Pet Tag on August 25 alongside new pet-care routines and Zoomies alerts. The company says more than 8 million pets are now registered on Life360. Life360 Pet Tag vs Pet GPS at a glance. | Feature | Life360 Pet Tag | Life360 Pet GPS | | Upfront price | $7.99 one time | $49.99 hardware listing | | Subscription | None | Required for GPS features | | How it locates a pet | Finder scans QR code and can share location | GPS, LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi | | Live location | No | Yes | | Escape alerts | No | Yes | | Battery | None | Up to 14 days claimed | | Finder can contact owner | Yes | Yes | | Best fit | Identification after a pet is found | Active tracking and escape alerts | The products can complement each other, but owners choosing only one should start with a simple question: do they need help finding the pet or mainly help getting it home once someone else finds it? The $7.99 Pet Tag works only after someone scans it. Life360's Pet Tag support page confirms that the tag is not a GPS or Bluetooth tracker and does not provide ongoing location updates. When a finder scans its QR code, the owner can receive an app notification, inbox message, and email containing information the finder chooses to share. The finder can also leave a note or share their location without installing Life360. Owners manage the contact details attached to the tag through the pet's Life360 profile. Life360 says the owner's phone number and email can be shared with the finder. That makes the Pet Tag fundamentally different from Bluetooth item trackers such as Google Pixel Tag and Apple's AirTag, which can use nearby devices to update an item's location without waiting for somebody to scan a code. If a pet is missing and nobody has found it yet, the Pet Tag cannot tell the owner where it is. Its advantage is simplicity: no charging, no subscription, and no electronic tracker hanging from the collar. Pet GPS adds live tracking and escape alerts. Life360 Pet GPS is designed for active tracking. It combines GPS, LTE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi and can send an Escape Alert when a pet leaves a configured Place. Life360 rates the rechargeable battery for up to 14 days depending on use. Below 6%, the tracker can enter Bluetooth Reserve Mode, which the company says can keep it discoverable through nearby devices for up to six months. The tracker weighs 28 grams, or 33.7 grams with its mount, according to Life360's specifications. That makes it substantially bulkier than a passive tag. Pet GPS also connects to Life360's Pet Finder Network. A Lost Pet Alert can notify eligible Life360 members near the reported location, while Life360's support documentation says the owner's phone number is shared with recipients and the alert remains visible for up to 72 hours. There is a QR fallback too. A finder can remove the tracker from its collar mount and scan the "Scan Me If Found" code on the back to contact the owner without installing Life360. For comparison, Apple's $29 AirTag 2 uses the Find My network rather than cellular GPS. It costs less to maintain, but it does not offer the same live GPS tracking or geofence-based escape alerts. Pet GPS costs more than the tracker price. The $49.99 hardware price does not tell the whole story because Pet GPS requires a qualifying Life360 membership. Life360's newer materials advertise a $99 Pet GPS offer that includes one year of Silver for eligible new or returning members. A current Life360 support article says Silver renews at $99.99 per year unless canceled and can support up to two Pet GPS trackers in the paid Circle. Gold and Platinum memberships also support Pet GPS, although some older Life360 help pages still reflect the previous Gold-or-Platinum-only setup. Multi-pet households should also watch for activation costs. Life360's current documentation says each additional Pet GPS added to a Circle requires a one-time cellular activation fee, although it does not publish the current amount. At launch in October 2025, Life360 said the first device's activation fee was waived and additional trackers cost $79.99 to activate. Buyers adding more than one tracker should confirm the current fee at checkout. The Pet Tag collects less location data, but it is not data-free. Life360's privacy policy specifically describes security protections for Pet GPS, including encryption of location data at rest and in transit. Those hardware protections do not translate directly to the Pet Tag because the tag has no GPS radio, Bluetooth hardware, battery, or programmable electronics. The relevant data begins when somebody scans the QR code. Life360 says a finder can submit a note and location while the owner's contact information is used to reconnect them. The company's broader security materials say data sent between devices and Life360 systems and stored in its primary systems is encrypted. What its public Pet Tag documentation does not specify is a tag-specific retention period for scan records, finder-submitted locations, or messages. That is a narrower privacy question than the original draft suggested. The tag is not silently tracking a pet, but using the QR service can still create account, contact, and finder-submitted data inside Life360's systems. Which Life360 pet product should you buy? The $7.99 Pet Tag makes more sense for owners who mainly want an updatable ID tag. It has no battery or subscription and gives a finder a simple route back to the family. Pet GPS is better suited to pets that roam or escape frequently. It adds live location, geofences, escape alerts, and Life360's recovery network, but it requires more hardware on the collar and an ongoing membership. Using both provides two recovery paths: Pet GPS can help locate a missing animal, while the Pet Tag gives whoever finds it first a quick way to contact the owner. Similar recovery networks are becoming more common outside pet tracking too. Google's Find Hub can use nearby devices and temporary location sharing to help owners recover lost belongings. Also read: Some Android apps can pass precise location data to advertising SDKs once location permission has been granted, making data-flow disclosures another consideration for connected services.

Life360 launches $8 scannable pet tags with real-time finder alerts

Life360 has launched $7.99 scannable pet tags and new pet-tracking features for its family safety app. The company added over 8 million pets to its platform since expanding into pet tech last year following its 2021 acquisition of Tile. The new QR code tags alert families through the Life360 app when scanned and provide the pet's location details, without requiring the finder to have the app installed. Life360 is also introducing care logs for tracking feeding and medication schedules, plus "Zoomies Alerts" that monitor pets' energy bursts. The company has made GPS trackers more accessible by including them in its $99-per-year Silver subscription. Products are available in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the UK.

Life360 expands pet tracking with new $8 scannable tags and zoomie alerts.

Life360 expands pet tracking with new $8 scannable tags and zoomie alerts. Life360's new $7.99 scannable pet tags alert families when a lost pet is found and share its last known location, while new care-tracking features hel Family location-sharing and safety app Life360 is expanding its pet-tracking capabilities on Tuesday with the launch of a new product line of $7.99 scannable pet tags and other pet care features that tap into its tracking network technology. Life360 expanded into pet tech last year with the launch of GPS pet trackers that leverage the lost-item-finding capabilities that the company integrated into its platform after its 2021 acquisition of AirTag rival Tile. With Tile, the company now offers not just location-sharing features for families, but also the ability for members to track other things of importance - like keys, handbags, luggage, and pets. Since then, families on the service have added more than 8 million pets to their accounts, the company says. However, the team found that not everyone wants to attach a bulky tracker to their pet's collar, and not everyone needs access to location-tracking features or other advanced options like geofences and escape alerts. In many cases, pet owners just want to put their contact information on a pet's tag, which is what the new scannable pet tags support. But there's a twist. Instead of just providing a pet owner's phone number when someone scans the QR code printed on the new pet tags, the scan also alerts the family through the Life360 app installed on the family's smartphones. (The person who found the pet does not need to have the app for this to work.) This helps in multiple ways - not only does it provide peace of mind to families searching for a lost pet, but it also provides the pet's location details. That can be useful if the lost pet escapes from the finder's control and runs off again, as the family will at least have the last known location recorded. Families can update their contact details through the Life360 pet profile in the app. In addition, the company is rolling out several new pet care features for families, including tools that let families schedule "care logs" to manage and track whether the pet has been fed, walked, given medication, or had its litter cleaned. Everyone in the family can see these care routines, so they will know if the pet needs their attention. Another fun feature is "Zoomies Alerts" for GPS trackers, which track the bursts of energy a pet has at particular points during the day or evening. A new Weekly Roundup will recap other routines, like the distance walked or information about who in the family provided the pet with the most care during the week. With the new features, the company is also making its pet trackers more affordable. Before, the Pet GPS trackers were only available with the higher-tier Platinum and Gold subscriptions, but now they're included with the $99-per-year Silver bundles, too. The new pet tags and GPS trackers are sold on both the comapny's website and Amazon in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K.

Life360 INC. (ASX:360): stronger growth, expanding margins and a bullish channel under pressure.

Life360 INC. (ASX:360): stronger growth, expanding margins and a bullish channel under pressure. Company overview. Life360 is a rapidly scaling global family-safety platform delivering high-engagement services across location, driving, digital safety, and pet tracking, underpinned by a fast-growing subscription base and an accelerating advertising ecosystem. Proactive Equities Pty Ltd view Life360 as a structurally advantaged global family-safety platform entering a phase of accelerated monetisation and margin expansion. Q2'26 results confirm the company's ability to scale both subscription and advertising revenue while deepening engagement across its 102.4 million MAU ecosystem. With a differentiated freemium model, expanding international footprint, and a rapidly scaling ads business following the Nativo acquisition, Life360 is transitioning from a high-growth consumer app to a multi-channel digital services platform with durable economics. The company's product suite, spanning location sharing, driving safety, pet tracking, digital safety, and emergency services, continues to strengthen its competitive moat. Engagement remains industry-leading, with Life360 ranking among the top social networking apps by DAU and maintaining one of the highest retention curves in the category. Q2'26 performance: revenue acceleration and margin expansion. Life360 delivered a standout quarter, reporting US$159.0 million in revenue, up 38% year-on-year, driven by strong subscription momentum and explosive advertising growth. Subscription revenue reached US$115.6 million, an increase of 31%, while advertising revenue surged to US$22.0 million, marking a remarkable 315% uplift compared with the prior year. Profitability strengthened as well, with Adjusted EBITDA rising to US$31.1 million, up 53% year-on-year, translating into a 20% margin. The company's ecosystem continues to expand, with Monthly Active Users reaching 102.4 million, up 16%, and Paying Circles increasing to 3.2 million, a 27% improvement. Annualised Monthly Revenue (AMR) also grew strongly to US$537.2 million, representing a 29% year-on-year increase.Subscription growth was driven by strong Paying Circle additions and a 5% uplift in ARPPC, supported by international price increases and mix shift toward higher-tier plans. Advertising revenue surged following the Nativo integration, validating Life360's ability to monetise its large free user base.Hardware revenue declined 20% YoY due to the strategic exit from brick-and-mortar retail, but this shift improves margin quality and aligns with the company's digital-first strategy. Strategic Execution: scaling a multi-layered growth engine. 1. Audience growth. Life360 continues to expand its global footprint, with international MAU rising 20% YoY and strong momentum in Triple Tier markets (ANZ, UK, Canada). Targeted market activation in Germany, Brazil, and Mexico delivered record single-day registrations and measurable brand awareness gains. 2. Paid offerings. The freemium flywheel remains powerful: strong free-user engagement drives consistent conversion into paid tiers. Price increases across international markets and deeper product value (e.g., expanded driving reports, pet tracking, digital safety) support ARPPC uplift. 3. New revenue streams. The ads business is scaling rapidly, supported by Life360's uniquely rich first-party behavioural data, anchored in real-world movement, which remains impossible for synthetic AI datasets or traditional digital platforms to replicate. The Nativo acquisition adds a full SSP stack, enabling cross-format campaigns and premium publisher access, significantly enhancing monetisation efficiency. As advertiser demand shifts toward high-intent, location-based signals, Life360 is increasingly positioned as a differentiated inventory source, allowing the ads business to compound at a pace well ahead of consumer-tech peers. 4. Profitability expansion. Adjusted EBITDA margin reached 20%, supported by operating leverage and a one-time tariff benefit that added roughly 3 percentage points. AI-driven efficiency improvements, now adopted across 95% of internal workflows, are accelerating R&D cycles and reducing support costs. These productivity gains are beginning to compound, enabling Life360 to scale its platform without a proportional increase in operating expenses and reinforcing the company's trajectory toward structurally higher margins. Financial strength: liquidity and capital discipline. Life360 maintains a robust balance sheet with US$599.5 million in current assets, including US$267.1 million in cash and US$197.9 million in short-term investments, providing the company with ample liquidity to support its growth agenda. Operating cash flow increased to US$41 million for the half, reflecting strong subscription retention, disciplined working-capital management, and the inherent predictability of its recurring revenue base. The company continues to invest in product innovation, international expansion, and advertising infrastructure while preserving financial flexibility. This combination of healthy cash reserves, expanding profitability, and high-return reinvestment opportunities positions Life360 to sustain its growth trajectory without compromising balance-sheet strength. Outlook: sustained momentum through FY26. Management expects MAU to grow between 17 and 20 percent, reflecting continued global adoption and strong engagement across core and emerging markets. Full-year revenue is projected to reach US$650-685 million, representing 33 to 40 percent year-on-year growth, supported by expanding subscription penetration and accelerating advertising monetisation. Subscription revenue is forecast at US$475-480 million, while advertising revenue is expected to rise sharply to US$98-115 million as Nativo integration scales. Profitability is set to strengthen further, with Adjusted EBITDA anticipated at US$130-140 million, maintaining a solid 20 percent margin. This outlook underscores management's confidence in Life360's multi-engine growth model and its broadening monetisation pathways. Valuation and peer context. Life360 trades at a discount to global consumer-tech peers despite delivering stronger engagement metrics and faster monetisation. With subscription growth compounding and advertising scaling rapidly, the company has clear potential for multiple expansion as it transitions toward a higher-margin digital services profile. Its key differentiators include industry-leading retention, unique first-party behavioural data that competitors cannot replicate, a rapidly scaling advertising platform, a strong international growth runway, and high-margin subscription economics that reinforce the durability of its business model. Catalysts. * Accelerating advertising revenue from Nativo integration * International Triple Tier expansion * MAU growth in high-potential markets (Brazil, Mexico, Germany) * Uber integration deepening Life360's super-app positioning * Continued ARPPC uplift from pricing and product mix * Breakout technical setup attracting momentum investors Risks. * Volatility in hardware demand * Execution risk in international scaling * Competitive pressure from platform apps (e.g., Apple ecosystem) * FX headwinds * Slower conversion in emerging markets Technical analysis of Life360 INC. (ASX:360). Life360's chart shows a price near A$23, below the marked A$25-26 resistance zone and still inside an ascending channel. Because price has not clearly reclaimed resistance, the setup remains unconfirmed. A close above resistance with volume would strengthen the long thesis; a close under A$22.5 would weaken it materially. * Support: A$22.5-23.00 * Resistance: A$26.50 * Take Profit (TP): A$31.00 * Stop Loss: A$22.00 * RSI: ~40 -neutral, with upward bias The technical posture aligns with fundamental momentum: rising MAU, accelerating subscription revenue, and explosive advertising growth. A breakout above A$26.50 could open a path toward the A$31-33 zone. FAQs About Life360 INC. (ASX:360). 1 - does Life360 pay dividends?
