About the Job

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline with 7 or more years of relevant experience, or a master's/advanced degree with 5 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience applying systems-engineering methods to complex electromechanical, robotic, medical-device, or similarly integrated products.
  • Strong capability in requirements development, decomposition, allocation, interface definition, and bidirectional traceability.
  • Experience managing performance budgets and translating product needs into measurable targets and testable acceptance criteria.
  • Experience planning system integration, characterisation, and verification, including test strategy and objective-evidence assessment.
  • Ability to lead root-cause investigations across mechanical systems, electronics, sensing, software, and controls.
  • Experience managing interfaces and system boundaries between instruments, capital equipment, and controls.
  • Knowledge of risk management, design controls, and configuration management in a regulated or safety-critical environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead systems engineering for instrument performance from stakeholder needs and product requirements through architecture, integration, and verification.
  • Translate instrument and procedure needs into measurable system, subsystem, and interface requirements with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Develop and maintain performance budgets for accuracy, force, torque, motion, latency, and reliability across instruments, capital equipment, and controls.
  • Own bidirectional traceability between requirements, risk controls, test methods, and verification evidence.
  • Define system boundaries and interfaces between instruments, capital platforms, sensing, actuation, software, and controls.
  • Lead architecture and trade-off analyses balancing performance, safety, reliability, usability, cost, and programme risk.
  • Plan and lead system integration, characterisation, and verification using representative test environments and data-driven acceptance criteria.
  • Lead complex root-cause investigations using structured problem-solving, experimental evidence, and cross-domain analysis.
  • Partner with mechanical, electrical, software, controls, test, quality, regulatory, and manufacturing teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Lead requirements, interface, risk, and technical-readiness reviews across the product-development lifecycle.
  • Mentor engineers, strengthen systems practices, and influence technical decisions across projects and programmes.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with requirements tools, systems modelling, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), data analysis, or test automation.
  • Medical-device, surgical-robotics, precision-instrumentation, motion-control, or reliability experience.
