About the job
- At least 5 years of relevant experience working in employee relations, as an HR generalist, or as an HR business partner.
- Proven ability to make recommendations and help resolve complex, unique, and highly sensitive employment-related issues.
- Excellent, demonstrable knowledge of current employment law, relevant employment standards and legislation, and best practices in employee relations policies, principles, and procedures.
- Ability to advise a wide range of stakeholders on employee relations issues while balancing legal compliance with business needs.
- Effective influencing skills to provide swift resolution to complex and highly sensitive employee matters.
- Ability to work autonomously and as an active member of a team, with a proven record of developing strong professional relationships with peers, managers, executives, and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to use sound judgment to solve problems, make high-stakes decisions, and involve the appropriate individuals at the appropriate time.
- Coach managers and employees as a trusted advisor on sensitive work-related issues, including performance management, conflict resolution, and interpreting company policy, culture, and values.
- Triage and support managers and employees in resolving issues that do not require formal investigation but create barriers or pose concerns to morale or company culture.
- Work with Legal on formal investigation close-outs to ensure coaching and actions are completed effectively and on time.
- Assist managers in addressing underperformance through documented coaching and drafting performance improvement plans, balancing speed, compliance, fairness, employee experience, and business needs.
- Work closely with the HR Operations team to implement specific HR processes and transactions and support complex employee- and manager-generated requests.
- Complete ad hoc projects alongside cross-functional HR and partner teams, occasionally leading specific projects or programs.
- Establish, build, and maintain strong professional relationships with business groups, including employees, people leaders, HR, and Legal.
