Requirements
  • A specialized diploma from an accredited school of nursing is required.
  • An active registered nurse license is required in the state of practice, with licensure in Pennsylvania or New Jersey accepted.
  • Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Knowledge of patient- and family-centered practice, cultural awareness, effective communication, patient assessment and care, patient and designated care partner education, medication administration and prescription, discharge planning, assessment and diagnosis, and health information documentation is required.
Responsibilities
  • Use the nursing process to address the physical, psychological, emotional, and social needs of patients.
  • Develop individualized nursing plans of care with patients and their designated care partners, consistent with their cultural beliefs and values.
  • Integrate evidence-based practice, clinical expertise, patient and family preferences, and cultural beliefs and values to deliver optimal healthcare.
  • Identify patient and family learning needs and provide understandable education about conditions, treatments, medications, and recovery steps.
  • Follow established nursing practices and protocols to minimize risk of harm to patients and others.
  • Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support ethical decision-making.
  • Use data to monitor care-process outcomes and apply improvement methods to test changes that improve patient-care quality and safety.
  • Function within nursing and inter-professional teams using open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making.
  • Create an environment of belonging and inclusion and apply problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Act as a primary preceptor for appropriate staff members.
  • Participate in hospital- and practice-setting-based committees, including safety and quality-improvement committees.
  • Give and receive feedback and integrate appropriate changes into practice.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing or completion of a BSN, or an appropriate advanced degree within three years of hire, is strongly preferred.
  • One year of previous experience as a registered nurse in an acute-care setting is strongly preferred.
