Requirements
  • Experience in civil or water resources engineering, emphasizing design and preparation of reports, plans, specifications, and estimates and project management for public agencies.
  • Experience with Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board post-construction requirements, the California Building Code, and Caltrans plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of construction management and inspection principles and the Subdivision Map Act.
  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • An Engineer-in-Training certification or professional registration, preferably in California.
  • A minimum of five years of qualifying experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English in person and over the telephone.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Ability to stand or walk on a job site for up to four hours and use a computer for an average eight-hour work shift.
Responsibilities
  • Perform civil and water resources engineering tasks for water distribution, sewer collection, grading, erosion control, stormwater pollution prevention, low-impact development, post-construction requirements, drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, civil, water and wastewater, roadway, and municipal public works infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare plans, engineering reports, and specifications for civil and water resources engineering projects.
  • Provide civil, water, and wastewater design support for commercial development projects.
  • Provide engineering support for public agencies.
  • Assist project managers with program management and engineering support services.
  • Prepare quantity take-offs and engineering estimates.
  • Perform construction inspection and oversight.
  • Manage contractors and subconsultants.
  • Prepare staff reports and proposals.
  • Adhere to assigned task budgets and schedules.
  • Work with team members on engineering-related projects.
  • Follow company quality control procedures and design standards.
  • Develop design drawings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, FLO-2D, StormCAD, HydroCAD, WaterCAD, and InfoSWMM.
  • Experience with GIS databases for public agency utility systems, including water, sewer, and storm drain systems.
  • Experience with utility master planning and preparation of utility atlas maps.
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS 9x, ArcView, and AutoCAD Map.
  • Professional registration in California.
