- Strong writing, speaking, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Leadership skills and the ability to relate to clinical emergency medical services staff are required.
- Computer literacy and above-average software proficiency are required.
- The candidate must pass a pre-placement drug test and background screening.
- The candidate must maintain requirements for active flight status.
- Coordinate and deliver required educational programs for new hires and existing clinical personnel.
- Maintain active involvement in program-wide emergency medical services activities.
- Perform audits and verify completion and documentation of employee educational requirements.
- Participate in web-based course evaluation and development.
- Assist management with interviews and evaluations of potential new hires.
- Work with program medical directors and the CQI Committee on case review sessions and ad hoc educational presentations as needed.
- Periodically function as a primary flight crew member or third-person observer when applicable.
- Work with the program director and operations managers to assist with outreach education when available.
- Travel regularly as required.

The new base in Livingston opened in July, less than a year after the partnership opened the first two emergency air medical bases in Kirbyville and Bay City. PHI Health sues Anthem for $30m in unpaid reimbursement awards. News release. INDIANAPOLIS - PHI Health has sued Anthem, alleging the insurer has failed to pay more than $30 million in reimbursement awards owed to the air-ambulance provider after federal arbitration proceedings. The lawsuit centers on roughly 1,200 arbitration determinations that PHI says have been finalized but remain unpaid. Under the federal No Surprises Act, an independent arbitrator resolves payment disputes between insurers and out-of-network providers, with the resulting payment determination intended to be binding. PHI alleges Anthem routinely exceeds the law's 30-day deadline for making payments after arbitration decisions. The company claims the delays allow Anthem to reduce expenses and retain funds that should have been paid to providers, potentially generating additional interest. The lawsuit also alleges Anthem uses delayed or withheld payments as leverage to pressure air-ambulance providers into accepting lower in-network reimbursement rates. PHI further claims Anthem has encouraged plan sponsors to disregard payment obligations. PHI is asking a federal judge to enforce the arbitration awards and order Anthem to pay more than $1 million in interest associated with delayed payments. The company argues that allowing insurers to disregard binding arbitration decisions would undermine the federal dispute-resolution system. Anthem's parent company, Elevance Health, has said the arbitration process includes strict eligibility requirements and that it will continue defending itself while seeking reforms to the system. Elevance provides health coverage to tens of millions of Americans and reported nearly $200 billion in revenue last year.

Thomasson holds more than 25 years of healthcare experience, including 17 years in air medical and critical care transport and nearly a decade in leadership roles. As Care Flight operations manager, he oversees the operational performance of the region's only nonprofit air ambulance provider, ensuring the highest standards of safety and clinical excellence. "Jeremy's extensive air medical leadership experience and proven ability to build strong teams make him an undeniable asset to our organization," said Joe Drago, executive director, Care Flight. "His commitment to excellence will help ensure Care Flight continues to provide exceptional service to the communities we serve." Before joining REMSA Health, Thomasson served as program director for PHI Air Medical, where he led air and ground critical care transport operations for eight rotor-wing bases. Prior to that, he served as the organization's business operations manager, overseeing more than 100 employees while leading operational improvement initiatives and expanding advanced critical care services. Thomasson is a Certified Medical Transport Executive, has served as an exam item writer for the International Board of Specialty Certification and served as the president-elect of the Texas Association of Air Medical Services.
