Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree with a major in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or another related discipline is required.
  • For the Associate title, 3 or more years of work experience in credit underwriting, credit risk, and portfolio management in the banking industry is required; for the AVP title, 5 or more years is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate lending, loan structuring, financial analysis, customer due diligence, and credit risk management is required.
  • Formal credit underwriting and financial analysis training is required.
  • Project management skills and the ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and prioritize workflow to meet critical deadlines are required.
  • Analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, along with relationship management and development skills, are required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • A high degree of professionalism and consistent work attendance is required.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate credit requests at the branch level, including cash flow, credit risk classification, loan structure, and collateral analysis.
  • Review and structure complex transactions with the Team Lead, negotiate credit terms and legal documentation, and co-manage client relationships as needed.
  • Analyze customer financial profiles, prepare Credit Recommendation Reports, and present recommendations to the Credit Risk Management Department and Credit Approval Committee.
  • Complete quarterly and annual loan portfolio reviews as required by policy.
  • Oversee existing loan portfolios through periodic reporting of risk profiles, trends, industry developments, and concentration to ensure appropriate loan classification.
  • Perform ongoing post-lending management of negative news and loan portfolios, identify early warning signs of deteriorating credit trends, and work with the Team Lead to resolve problem loan situations.
  • Ensure credit files contain proper documentation, including current financial statements and agency reports, before submission to the Business Administration Team.
  • For the AVP title, coach junior staff in reviewing credit files for new credit facilities, loan documentation requirements, and follow-up on pending and outstanding credit documents.
  • Complete due diligence and background evaluations.
  • Perform pre-closing and post-closing quality-control processes, provide timely responses, and review findings with Branch Management.
  • Prepare New Loan Closing Memos and monitor required Compliance Certificates, Borrowing Base Certificates, and related documentation to determine whether further risk assessments are warranted.
  • Cooperate with internal and external auditors and examiners and take corrective action in response to audit findings.
  • Comply with Know Your Customer requirements during loan underwriting and processing.
  • Close and book transactions, conduct post-lending monitoring, and perform other credit, compliance, and risk-management duties assigned by the Team Lead or Branch Management.
