Nium and Relay pass $500 million in cross-border payments in first year.

Nium and Relay pass $500 million in cross-border payments in first year. Relay's small business customers have sent payments to 153 countries through Nium LAS VEGAS, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ - Nium, the infrastructure platform for global money movement, and Relay, the small business banking and money management platform[1], today announced that they have processed more than $500 million in cross-border payments since beginning their partnership nearly one year ago. Nium's infrastructure now powers payments for more than 500 Relay customers, most of them small and medium-sized businesses, who have sent funds to 153 countries. The milestone reflects growing demand from small businesses that need to pay suppliers, contractors, and partners abroad without the delays and uncertainty that have traditionally accompanied international transfers. Through Nium, Relay's customers can collect, convert, send, and spend funds across borders, with certainty at every step, from onboarding to the moment funds arrive in a recipient's bank account or wallet. "Certainty is what businesses need from their business banking and payments partners - from the moment a customer is onboarded to the moment funds are delivered," said Anupam Pahuja, Chief Business Officer at Nium. "Relay is giving its customers that certainty across 153 countries, and we are built to support it at every step." "Relay gives small business owners a clear view of their money so they can make confident decisions," said Yoseph West, CEO and Co-Founder at Relay. "We needed a technology partner that could move as fast as we do, with modern APIs and a team that works as closely with us as we work with our customers. Nium delivered on both, and we look forward to bringing global payments to thousands of small business customers." As small businesses increasingly operate across borders, Nium and Relay will continue to expand their work together, building payment experiences that help owners focus on running and growing their companies. Nium and Relay made the announcement at Money20/20 USA. About Nium Nium is building the infrastructure to move money as freely as information. Maybank Indonesia eyes ringgit for fast remittance service expansion.

Maybank Indonesia eyes ringgit for fast remittance service expansion. Thursday, 15 Oct 2026 | 5:55 PM MYT JAKARTA: Maybank Indonesia is considering the Malaysian ringgit for the next phase of its newly launched Fast Remittance service, with the country already on its list of potential destinations as the bank expands its international money transfer capabilities. Maybank Indonesia's digital banking head Charles Budiman said the Fast Remittance service was being introduced in phases, with the initial selection of supported currencies based on existing customer demand. "They are on our list, especially since we are also a Malaysian company," he told Bernama when asked whether Malaysia could be among the next countries added to the service. Charles was met at the launching ceremony of the service introduced through its M2U ID App in collaboration with global payments infrastructure provider Nium, which offered fast remittance using five currencies namely Singapore dollar, Australian dollar, the British pound, euro and Hong Kong dollar. Meanwhile, Maybank Indonesia IT and digital director Bambang Irawan said the Fast Remittance feature was introduced as part of the bank's efforts to strengthen the foundation of global financial connectivity. "As PCB Update all understand, people's activities today are increasingly interconnected across national borders. The same applies to their financial needs. Therefore, a relevant bank is one that is able to support its customers across those borders in a way that is fast, transparent, secure and, of course, affordable. "That is what prompted us to introduce the Fast Remittance feature on our M2U ID App. We want to ensure that Maybank Indonesia's digital capabilities are connected to a wider network," he said in his briefing. Meanwhile, Maybank Indonesia's head of cash management Reika Widyadara Indah said the service was designed to make international fund transfers faster, more convenient and affordable, offering near-real-time transfers, round-the-clock accessibility and a flat transaction fee regardless of the amount transferred. She said the feature combined Maybank Indonesia's digital banking infrastructure and customer relationships with Nium's international payment network to strengthen global financial connectivity. The bank said the launch formed part of its broader digital banking development strategy and its commitment to providing accessible, secure and convenient financial services. - Bernama

Nium launches USDC funding, letting businesses put stablecoin balances to work and free up trapped liquidity.

Nium launches USDC funding, letting businesses put stablecoin balances to work and free up trapped liquidity. Businesses can now fund their Nium account in USDC and pay out in fiat across 190+ countries, turning idle stablecoin into working capital, with no new integration required SAN FRANCISCO, August 27, 2026 - Nium, the global infrastructure leader for real-time cross-border payments, today announced the launch of USDC funding, enabling businesses to fund their Nium account in USDC and pay out in fiat anywhere in the world. The capability extends Nium's existing payout network to businesses holding stablecoins, giving them a way to put any USDC balance to productive use without adopting separate crypto workflows. For years, moving money across borders has meant a familiar trade-off: pre-fund accounts in every market you operate in, or accept the delays of correspondent banking. Capital sits idle in nostro accounts for days at a time, waiting to be paid out. Businesses that already hold stablecoins have faced a separate problem: no clean way to convert those balances into usable funds that can be used in the everyday economy. Nium's USDC funding answers both problems at once. Businesses deposit USDC into their Nium account; funds are converted to USD and credited automatically, ready for local payout through the same infrastructure Nium clients already use to pay in 190+ countries. There is no separate crypto platform to stand up and no digital assets to manage - funding in USDC works the same way as funding in any other currency on Nium's platform. "Every business we talk to is sitting on the same problem in a different wrapper - they either have capital trapped in pre-funded accounts or stablecoin balances with nowhere useful to go," said Kuberan (Kube) Marimuthu, VP of Digital Assets at Nium. "Our USDC funding solves both at once. We put idle money, whether it is fiat or stablecoin, to work and we do it on the same robust infrastructure businesses already trust." The launch builds on Nium's broader digital asset strategy, following the company's earlier announcement enabling stablecoin-backed card issuance. Nium works with leading, regulated global stablecoin and digital-finance infrastructure providers to handle the receipt and conversion of stablecoin behind the scenes when powering USDC funding for Nium clients. Clients never need to manage a crypto wallet or private keys. For businesses making high-volume cross-border payouts - payroll and contractor platforms, marketplaces settling with global sellers, and fintechs managing dozens of payout corridors - the impact is immediate. Capital once locked in pre-funded accounts can instead be held centrally and moved just-in-time - funding payouts in seconds. For businesses already holding USDC, the balance no longer has to sit idle waiting for a manual off-ramp - it can fund global payouts directly. USDC funding is available now to eligible corporate clients. There is no new integration for existing clients of Nium. "Businesses have been told to choose between the speed of stablecoins and the reach of traditional rails," said Marimuthu. "We're proving that the two aren't mutually exclusive. With Nium stablecoin funding, our customers are getting the best of both worlds."

The travel 'nightmare' that's luring payment tech developers.

The travel 'nightmare' that's luring payment tech developers. New virtual card and AI tools are simplifying business payments and shifting how credit is issued at the point of sale. Curated by Financing Your Way from original reporting by American Banker - Top News. Summary is AI-assisted and editorially reviewed - see its editorial standards. The travel industry is seeing a massive push toward virtual cards and automated payment technology. This shift is designed to fix the 'nightmare' of fragmented booking and expense management. For business owners and retailers, this means a smoother bridge between purchasing and financing. Companies like Nium and American Express GBT are rolling out tools that automate complex payment workflows. This isn't just about moving money; it's about 'agentic commerce' where software handles the logic of payments based on specific business rules. For operators, this trend signals a move toward more integrated financing at the point of purchase. Virtual cards allow for instant credit issuance with strict controls. This reduces the risk of fraud and overspending compared to traditional corporate cards. If you deal with business-to-business sales or high-ticket service bookings, keep an eye on these virtual card rails. They are quickly becoming the preferred way for clients to pay and manage their budgets in real-time. The technology is moving away from manual invoicing toward instant, digital-first credit solutions that work globally. Who else is covering this
