Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Magnopus launched CSP open source in July 2026, lowering developer adoption friction.
  • The March 2026 CoSTAR partnership expands enterprise credibility across UK creative-industry buyers.
  • Recent Fallout and Google Cloud work proves demand for premium immersive production services.

What critics are saying

  • Open-sourcing CSP commoditizes Magnopus’s core platform, shrinking pricing power by 2027.
  • Epic, Unity, and cloud incumbents can replicate interoperable spatial tooling faster.
  • If OKO adoption stalls, Magnopus remains a project studio with fragile repeat revenue.

What makes Magnopus unique

  • Magnopus’s open-source CSP standardizes cross-reality apps across Unreal, Unity, Web, and VisionOS.
  • OKO syncs persistent spaces across VR, AR, and browsers using Magnopus Cloud Services.
  • CoSTAR National Lab selected OKO in March 2026 for convergent media R&D.

Animatronic monkeys, 'glinda Glitter' coming Sept. 25 to Sphere's 'The Wizard of Oz'

Animatronic monkeys, 'glinda Glitter' coming Sept. 25 to Sphere's 'The Wizard of Oz' Posted: Aug 31, 2026 / 01:18 PM PDT Updated: Aug 31, 2026 / 04:48 PM PDT LAS VEGAS (KLAS) - Sphere will debut updated and expanded "4D effects" on Sept. 25 in "The Wizard of Oz," according to a Monday announcement. Prices online for the shows beginning that night are $139, but appear to drop to $119 in the weeks that follow. The updated show has been referred to as "The Wizard of Oz 2.0" by Sphere executive chairman and CEO James Dolan. Earlier this year, he talked about new flying monkeys and a ride on a broomstick as parts of the update. Monday's news release teased "animatronic Winged Monkeys; themed scents; 'Glinda Glitter;' pyrotechnic fireworks; and scented apples." Sphere has already seen tremendous ticket sales for its initial rendering, charging $104 for tickets. The show opened in August 2025, and surpassed $450 million in sales. "The Experience has been transporting guests through an iconic tornado scene that drops Dorothy and her friends on the yellow brick road where apples fall from the sky and Winged Monkeys take flight," the news release said. "At Sphere, we're constantly exploring new ways to push the boundaries of immersive storytelling and create new experiences for our audiences," Sphere President and Chief Operating Officer Jennifer Koester said. "The upcoming enhancements to The Wizard of Oz at Sphere take some of the most memorable moments from the experience to the next level to immerse and transport audiences deeper into the world of Oz." The Wizard of Oz at Sphere is presented by Sphere Studios in collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery, Google and Magnopus. The Wizard of Oz at Sphere has multiple showtimes daily, with tickets now on sale through the beginning of 2027 at thesphere.com.

CoSTAR National Lab and Magnopus explore convergent media production.

CoSTAR National Lab and Magnopus explore convergent media production. The partnership gives the Lab access to Magnopus' spatial intelligence platform, which enables the creation of cross-reality environments for VR headsets, AR apps, and web browsers Published: March 26, 2026 The UK's CoSTAR National Lab is partnering with experience technology company Magnopus to explore bringing together the real and the digital to create new kinds of experiences for audiences. The partnership gives the Lab access to Magnopus' spatial intelligence platform OKO, which enables the creation of cross-reality environments for VR headsets, AR apps, and web browsers. OKO, underpinned by the open-source Connected Spaces Platform and Magnopus Cloud Services, enables spaces to remain synchronised across realities, keeping physical and digital environments connected, interactive, and persistent, said the partners. It includes a browser-based application for accessible participation, an Unreal Engine plugin for real-time development, and a Unity-powered iOS app for environmental capture and shared AR. Professor Ade Woolard, interim co-director and director of technology at CoSTAR National Lab said: "Providing UK companies with supported access to [Magnopus'] technologies, platforms, and production expertise - including the OKO platform - marks an exciting step in advancing R&D and accelerating the convergence of real and virtual media production across all platforms." Magnopus recently collaborated with Amazon MGM Studios, Amazon Studios Tech Operations, and Kilter Films to deliver The World of Fallout interactive web experience. The company also created the Daft Punk Experience in Fortnite with Epic Games and Daft Life.
