Requirements
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated successful experience in fundraising and fundraising management is required, preferably in higher education or health care.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills are required.
  • The candidate must be highly organized, creative, energetic, and assertive and demonstrate the independent judgment and personal integrity necessary to carry out a senior management role in fundraising.
  • A teamwork-oriented approach to colleagues and the ability to partner in a positive and constructive environment are essential.
Responsibilities
  • Identify prospective donors and funding sources with faculty and staff and develop cultivation and solicitation plans involving those groups and volunteers as appropriate.
  • Ensure regular donor communications and stewardship, including re-solicitations, gift and pledge-payment acknowledgements, reporting, visits, and regular updates on departmental progress.
  • Assist donors, prospects, and other selected individuals with appointments, scheduling, and other facilitation needs connected with clinical encounters.
  • Maintain communications with colleagues in medical departments, other schools, and central development to support effective collaboration and achieve the university’s fundraising goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of departmental needs, including needs specific to various programs and departments.
  • Document all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in i-BIS and other appropriate donor files.
  • Demonstrate continuous progress toward campaign or multi-year project goals established with the supervisor.
  • Reach departmental annual cash-fundraising goals established with the supervisor.
  • Conduct an appropriate amount of substantive cultivation and solicitation activity toward closing gifts.
  • Reach individual annual goals for the number and amounts solicited and funded, along with additional collaboration goals.
  • Manage an appropriate number of active prospects and proposals.

  • Experience in higher education or health care is preferred.
