Requirements
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in general education, special education, or a directly related field.
  • Demonstrated successful teaching or training experience.
  • Hold or be able to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s license in General Education, Special Education, or a directly related field.
  • Maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license according to North Carolina requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and educational statutes, including budgeting and fiscal requirements.
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of multi-tiered systems of support.
  • Considerable knowledge of evidence-based social, emotional, and behavioral interventions.
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Google Apps.
  • Ability to deliver professional learning to meet the needs of various stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form using varied communication techniques and tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, attorneys, parents, and the public.
Responsibilities
  • Support district goals related to reducing disproportionality in discipline and improving school climate data.
  • Build staff capacity through coaching, delivering professional development, and monitoring implementation.
  • Coach school-based staff through classroom observations, modeling best practices, co-teaching, and providing feedback.
  • Conduct professional learning aligned to district, regional, and school goals.
  • Conduct needs assessments; monitor and analyze data to evaluate intervention efficacy; and support the school improvement process.
  • Provide onsite support and problem-solving for individual students, classes, and schools.
  • Coach staff and school teams in developing and implementing multi-tiered social, emotional, and behavioral plans and continuums of support.
  • Contribute to a high-functioning team by demonstrating self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
