Community Facilities Team Leader

We’re looking for a dependable, hands-on Community Facilitator Team Leader to help ensure our senior living community remains safe, comfortable, functional, and well maintained. This position provides leadership and hands-on support across facility maintenance, equipment care, grounds upkeep, inspections, and daily environmental needs.

Working under the direction of the Executive Director, the Community Facilitator Team Leader helps coordinate maintenance activities, supports the day-to-day operation of the community, and ensures assigned responsibilities are completed according to established schedules, safety standards, regulations, and company policies.

What you’ll do

Your responsibilities will include a combination of team leadership, facility maintenance, repairs, inspections, grounds care, and general community support, including:

• Coordinate and complete routine maintenance and repairs involving basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plastering, mechanical systems, and other facility needs.
• Help organize daily activities for the maintenance team and monitor completion of scheduled work.
• Oversee preventive maintenance activities and ensure established maintenance schedules are followed.
• Maintain lawns, landscaping, parking areas, driveways, and other exterior spaces, including mowing, trimming, watering, sweeping, and seasonal snow removal.
• Clean windows, screens, and other interior and exterior areas as needed.
• Replace interior and exterior lighting components, including exit signs, overhead fixtures, room call lights, and other facility lighting.
• Assist with routine servicing and upkeep of heating, cooling, and other mechanical systems.
• Perform general environmental and janitorial duties, including floor and carpet care and refuse removal.
• Inspect company vehicles and coordinate routine servicing, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Monitor and document required fire safety inspections and maintenance activities.
• Maintain organized, safe, and secure maintenance storage areas.
• Monitor equipment and supply needs and communicate when items require repair, replacement, or replenishment.
• Support the training, orientation, and evaluation of team members as directed.
• Participate in safety committees, meetings, continuing education, and other programs as assigned.
• Organize work priorities around resident needs while ensuring scheduled responsibilities are completed.
• Perform other community and facility-related duties as assigned by leadership.

• Protect resident privacy and maintain confidentiality of protected health information.
• Respect residents’ personal choices, rights, communication preferences, and right to privacy.
• Promptly report concerns involving resident safety, rights, abuse, neglect, exploitation, discrimination, or grievances through established channels.
• Follow all applicable federal, state, and local requirements, along with company policies and procedures.
• Follow established safety, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and workplace practices.
• Use tools, equipment, chemicals, and personal protective equipment appropriately and only as trained.
• Follow manufacturer instructions for operating, maintaining, storing, and disposing of equipment and chemicals.
• Promptly report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, accidents, injuries, exposures, and other incidents and complete required documentation.
• Maintain a positive, cooperative, and professional work environment.

Work environment

This is an active position involving frequent standing and walking on carpeted, concrete, and other surfaces. Duties may involve exposure to dust, odors, cleaning products, chemicals, and other conditions associated with facility and environmental maintenance.

The role may require work outside normal scheduled hours, including weekends, emergency situations, severe weather events, or other circumstances requiring immediate assistance. Participation in a designated on-call rotation may also be required.

Requirements

Specific Requirements 

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
• Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must have a basic knowledge of mechanical equipment, carpentry and general maintenance procedures.
• A current, valid license to operate a vehicle in the state of Maine and a driving record that is satisfactory to the company may be required.
• Must complete a criminal history record check to the satisfaction of the company.
• Must provide proof of immunization for MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) and varicella (chickenpox)
• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
