Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree Civil Engineering
  • A Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required
  • 10 - 15 years in water/sewer and multi-discipline projects
  • Proven track record in business development, project capture planning, and proposal writing
  • Proven experience in technical and business leadership and management of linear infrastructure engineering and water projects and project teams through both design and construction phases
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of construction methods, logistics, equipment & methodology selection
  • Familiar with cost estimating & scheduling related to linear construction
  • Experience in risk management analysis, evaluation and presentation to the client
  • Experience in preparation of detailed design reports & construction reporting
  • Liaise with other disciplines, professionals, clients and third party as needed
  • Excellent verbal and report writing skills
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Water Practice Business Development group in expanding water infrastructure market share in Ontario including client relationship development, project capture planning and proposals
  • Working directly with senior engineers and technical teams in leading the execution of various ongoing projects
  • Managing projects with direct communication with clients, sub consultants, and contractors
  • Ensuring project deliverables meet or exceed GHD’s internal and external client quality objectives
  • Clarifying roles and responsibilities within the project team and ensuring project compliance with the organization's wider program and/or portfolio management structures and processes
  • Planning and managing the delivery of projects within an area of professional expertise using an appropriate project management methodology to ensure intended outcomes are achieved
  • Leading large project teams or multiple small- to medium-sized teams; defining project vision, communicating outcomes, providing guidance, coordinating team actions, and building team capability through training and mentoring
  • Managing identification of risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints; escalating and implementing solutions as needed
  • Delivering baseline assessments and post-implementation analyses to evaluate and track realization of business benefits
  • Negotiating and managing deployment of project resource budgets, providing forecasts and presenting variances at review points
  • Driving a culture of innovation through multistakeholder solutions such as idea generation platforms, jam sessions, and hackathons
  • Communicating actions needed to implement the function's strategy and motivating people to achieve local business goals
  • Developing personal capability through assessment and development planning activities and training; maintaining external professional accreditation where relevant
  • Managing transformational change programs ensuring integration with related projects and embedding desired culture and behaviors
  • Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement plans for projects to identify stakeholders and ensure appropriate voice
  • Planning and leading information gathering, analysis, and stakeholder consultation activities and specifying deliverables
  • Managing delivery of assurance reviews and actioning issues to give senior stakeholders confidence in time, budget, and quality
  • Interpreting business needs and identifying solution recommendations at a business unit level
