Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, electronics engineering, or another engineering or technical discipline, or eight years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
  • At least two years of experience in IT technical support, help desk, or system administration.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including lifting equipment up to 50 pounds and moving through the work area for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust Suitability clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
  • Must meet updated identification requirements or be willing and able to update identification documents in time to complete the suitability process.
  • Candidates may be required to provide proof of current facility-specific vaccinations and testing, including yearly flu vaccination, negative tuberculosis testing, and vaccination records or titer testing for measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and/or varicella.
Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, test, and troubleshoot computer systems and equipment for the Government, ensuring optimal operation and user satisfaction.
  • Deliver remote and desk-side technical support, respond to IT support tickets, and diagnose and repair hardware and software components.
  • Set up and maintain user accounts, interface with other software applications, compile reports, and respond to customer requests.
  • Maintain Active Directory and other system accounts, support connectivity and client applications, and configure and support local and wide area network services.
  • Monitor open tickets in the VA's ServiceNow customer incident ticketing system to ensure business-process adherence, and report discrepancies with proposed corrective actions for approval before implementation.
  • Use debugging protocols and processes.
  • Troubleshoot customer-reported problems and issues and implement corrective actions quickly.
  • Facilitate equipment returns, deployments, unboxing, inventorying, and verification.
  • Handle electronic components carefully and follow safety precautions to prevent injuries or equipment damage.
  • Perform physical tasks such as bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, climbing, and crawling to access and repair equipment.
  • Stand and move throughout the work area for prolonged periods.
  • Provide additional support during temporary surge-capacity periods when requested and coordinated in advance; travel may be required for up to 12 consecutive days, departing Monday and returning the Friday of the following week.
  • For work-related travel, use expenses pre-paid by Kentro for airfare and hotel; submit out-of-pocket expenses according to company policy. Reimbursements are paid weekly, and per diem for meals and lodging is provided for overnight stays based on GSA per diem rates.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience conducting routine system administration tasks and logging data in system administration logs.
  • Knowledge of debugging protocols and processes.
  • Knowledge of IT principles and practices, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, and a basic understanding of system administration in a Windows environment.
