Requirements
Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
Hold a current California registered nurse license.
Hold current Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications.
Responsibilities
Maintain confidentiality of appropriate records in accordance with hospital policy and applicable law.
Coordinate all aspects of admission, transfer, and discharge with the healthcare team.
Demonstrate competency in selected technical skills, including psychomotor skills, equipment use and troubleshooting, intravenous and intraosseous insertion, maintenance and discontinuation.
Administer and record prescribed medications through oral, subcutaneous, intravenous, rectal, intramuscular, or intraosseous routes, and report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with policy.
Evaluate patients to recognize changes in condition and intervene appropriately.
Record patients’ current vital signs and promptly alert the emergency department or clinic physician about abnormal vital signs.
Organize, prioritize, and complete activities and assignments efficiently and in a timely manner.
Desired Qualifications
One year of previous experience in an emergency room patient-care setting.

Summary/Objective
The ED, Night Shift, Registered Nurse (RN) employs intellectual, interpersonal, and technical skills, utilizing the nursing process, to assist patients of various ages in achieving their maximum health potential. The RN functions as a health team member through independent, interdependent, and dependent roles within the healthcare system. The ED Registered Nurse reports to the ED/Acute Nurse Manager. All ED-Registered Nurses will be cross-trained as Acute Registered Nurses.
Essential Functions
Maintains confidentiality of appropriate records per hospital policy and applicable law.
Coordinates all aspects of admission, transfer, and discharge with the healthcare team.
Demonstrates competency in selected technical skills (e.g., psychomotor skills, equipment use and troubleshooting, IV/IO insertion, maintenance and discontinuation, medication administration).
Effectively evaluates patients to recognize changes in condition and intervenes appropriately.
Prepares and administers (orally, subcutaneously, IV, rectal, IM, or IO) and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy.
Records patients’ current vital signs and alerts the ED physician or the Clinic physician for abnormal vital signs in a timely manner.
Organizes, prioritizes, and completes activities and assignments in an efficient and timely manner.
