About the job

Requirements
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in an investment bank or M&A advisory firm, the corporate finance division of a large accounting firm, a private equity or venture capital investor, or a corporate M&A, Corporate Finance, or Corporate Development function.
  • Buy-side experience is essential.
  • A strong undergraduate degree, ideally in economics, business, finance, law, or accounting.
  • Strong core technical skills acquired through active participation in M&A transactions, particularly financial modelling.
  • Strong numeracy and experience in financial modelling, valuation analysis, business plan analysis, and commercial analysis.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end transaction experience.
  • Strong analytical, business, and problem-solving skills, including applying financial analysis to commercial issues.
  • Strong strategic acumen and understanding of the Financial Times, Nikkei, and their industries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite, and AI tools.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Source corporate development opportunities, including acquisition and investment targets.
  • Contribute end-to-end to M&A, FT Ventures investments, and disposals, including business valuation modelling, business plan analysis and pricing, due diligence, transaction coordination, and contract negotiation.
  • Lead financial and valuation analysis of business opportunities, applying critical thinking to the business case and its advancement of FT and Nikkei strategies.
  • Lead portfolio review projects and review investment proposals.
  • Lead thematic research projects and portfolio management.
  • Mentor more junior team members.
  • Prepare board papers and documentation required for CFO, CEO, FT Board, and Nikkei approval processes.
