About the job
- An associate degree in a related technical field or equivalent related experience is preferred.
- Established Pennsylvania residency within 20 miles of the base office is required.
- A valid Pennsylvania driver's license and good driving record are required.
- A strong background in personal computers and Microsoft Windows is required.
- A strong background in electronics is required.
- Knowledge of building structures is required.
- Knowledge of commercial phone systems is required.
- Customer relations skills are required.
- Computer skills are required.
- Oral and written communication skills are required.
- Organization and time management skills are required.
- The ability to splice hard-line cable, passives, and electronics is required.
- The ability to pull trunk and feeder cable into open trenches is required.
- The ability to climb and work aloft on poles, ladders, or other support structures is required.
- The ability to work effectively individually without immediate supervision and function as part of a team is required.
- The ability to perform tasks and adhere to company policies and procedures is required.
- The ability to work well with hand tools is required.
- The ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds is required.
- The ability to travel within the required service footprint is required.
- The successful candidate must acquire and maintain union membership.
- The successful candidate must be willing and able to complete other duties as assigned.
- Construct and install cable-based services for customers.
- Install, maintain, test, repair, and replace cable television transmission and distribution systems and associated hardware in homes and commercial buildings.
- Work with analog and digital cable television signals, high-speed Internet connections, and digital telephone service delivered via coaxial cable.
- Load and unload equipment and perform general maintenance in and around the local office.
- Learn and adapt to new and emerging technologies.
- Work outside in all weather conditions at any time of day or night.
