About the job

Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in data analytics, product analytics, business intelligence, data science, analytics engineering, or a similar analytical role.
  • Strong SQL skills, including window functions and data definition language statements.
  • Experience with a cloud analytics environment such as AWS Athena, BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks, or Redshift.
  • Comfort working with S3-style data lakes, structured datasets, views, and analytical tables.
  • Ability to use Python for analysis, data validation, scripting, or workflow automation.
  • Ability to break vague questions into clear analytical steps.
  • Ability to explain data in plain language and connect analysis to product, marketing, or business decisions.
  • Interest in games, player behaviour, product design, monetization, engagement systems, and live-service products.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools in analytical or technical work, including for SQL/Python development, analysis, research, automation, or workflow improvement, and independently validating output quality and accuracy.
  • High ownership, strong follow-through, and comfort working in a small remote team.
  • Applicants must live in British Columbia and be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze player behaviour and product changes across onboarding, retention, monetization, progression, LiveOps, and game-economy health.
  • Run funnel, cohort, and segmentation analyses to identify friction points, drop-offs, and player spending patterns.
  • Translate ambiguous product questions into structured analyses, clear findings, and actionable recommendations.
  • Work hands-on with the AWS-based analytics stack, including S3, Athena, DBT, and Prefect, to create, maintain, and optimize ETL pipelines.
  • Write cost- and performance-aware SQL to build analytical views that make core datasets accessible to the wider team.
  • QA data pipelines and telemetry, identifying broken tracking, inconsistent definitions, or anomalies in event volume.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design to architect tracking plans and define data telemetry before new features launch.
  • Support end-to-end A/B test and feature-experiment design, success-metric definition, and post-analysis.
  • Use modern AI development tools to accelerate SQL/Python scripting, workflow automation, and documentation.
  • Build reusable notebooks, scripts, and analytical workflows to scale insights across the studio.
  • Experiment with new AI capabilities and incorporate useful tools and workflows into analytics work.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with AWS Athena, S3, Glue Data Catalog, S3 table buckets, Apache Iceberg, or similar lakehouse tools.
  • Experience with analytics for free-to-play mobile games or consumer apps, including experimentation (A/B testing), player behaviour, monetization, user acquisition, and marketing performance.
  • Experience with QuickSight, Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or similar business intelligence tools.
  • Experience with Git, code review, documentation, or working in a technical team environment.
