About the company

EQT Corporation is the largest-scale, vertically integrated natural gas producer in the United States, with operations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. It develops natural gas fields in the Appalachian Basin, processes the gas, and delivers it to customers through its own supply chain, aiming to provide affordable and reliable energy. Its vertical integration—from exploration to delivery—lets EQT control costs and reliability end-to-end, setting it apart from non-integrated producers. The company’s goal is to create long-term value for employees, landowners, communities, partners, and investors while providing cleaner energy to the world.

What believers are saying

  • EQT raised 2026 production guidance 90 Bcfe and cut capex $25 million on July 21.
  • EQT signed a five-year Asian LNG offtake and a ten-year CPV supply deal.
  • Southgate acceleration and Blackline Midstream add cash flow, vertical integration, and New England terminals.

What critics are saying

  • Natural-gas prices still drive earnings; Q2 2026 revenue fell 29% on weaker realizations.
  • Appalachian concentration leaves EQT exposed to Marcellus pipeline constraints and regional regulatory shocks.
  • Toby Rice sold 175,328 shares on August 14, 2026; insider confidence looks thin.

What makes EQT Corporation unique

  • EQT controls America’s largest natural-gas position, anchored in low-cost Appalachian acreage.
  • Compression investments and midstream ownership lift output, cut declines, and reduce basis losses.
  • Minimal hedging lets Toby Rice capture price spikes better than peers.

EQT to acquire Range Resources in all-stock deal creating $50B natural gas giant

EQT Corporation will acquire Range Resources Corporation in an all-stock deal that creates a US natural gas producer with a pro forma enterprise value above $50 billion. The companies announced the merger agreement on October 26, 2026. Each Range share will convert into 0.987 EQT shares. EQT shareholders will own about 73% of the combined company, and Range shareholders about 27%. The combined company will produce more than 9 Bcfe/d across nearly 3 million net acres. EQT expects $325 million in annual synergies within two years, rising to more than $600 million long term. EQT raises dividend to $0.17 as free cash flow covers payout 4.4 times despite $2.89 gas

EQT raised its quarterly dividend 3% to $0.17 per share from $0.165, the board announced on October 14, 2026. The annualised rate of $0.68 gives a forward yield of about 1.27% at a share price of $53.62. Free cash flow covered the payout about 4.4 times in the second quarter of 2026, even as NYMEX gas fell to $2.89/MMBtu. In 2025, free cash flow of $2.50B covered dividends of $389.6 million about 6.4 times. Total debt fell to $5.66B from $7.80B, close to the company's $5 billion net debt target. Management said buybacks, not dividends, will get most extra cash. A 10-year power supply deal and an LNG agreement starting in 2028 could add about $145M a year to free cash flow.
