Responsibilities
  • Assist students, faculty, staff, and community members in using college library research resources to locate appropriate information and materials.
  • Teach patrons how to use print and electronic research tools, including digital magazines, journals, newspapers, eBooks, and streaming videos.
  • Assist users with Microsoft Office software, email, Password Station, Canvas, MyWay, Papercut, and MyHub.
  • Assist the Library Supervisor with daily library operations, including acquisition, preparation, and organization of library materials.
  • Instruct patrons in using online library catalogs and databases to locate desired information.
  • Answer reference questions and provide assistance to patrons.
  • Check materials in and out and explain circulation policies to customers.
  • Register customers for new library cards and renew existing cards.
  • Accept money for fines and fees, make change, balance the cash drawer, and prepare deposits.
  • Handle intra-campus, interlibrary loan, and reserve requests.
  • Assist in maintaining the catalog and serials holdings list, including copy cataloging and bibliographic verification.
  • Assist with processing materials for campus libraries.
  • Prepare purchase requests for books, audiovisual materials, and supplies.
  • Organize and maintain the periodical collection and claim missing issues.
  • Operate and perform basic cleaning and maintenance of audiovisual equipment.
  • Maintain library records and statistics.
  • Assume responsibility for library operations in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Provide intermittent guidance to work-study students.
  • Assist in maintaining the library environment.
  • Assist with preparing and updating the procedures manual.
  • Promote library services to faculty, staff, and students through special events, committee, task force, and council participation, including brief presentations.
  • Stay current with developments in library and information fields.
  • Attend work, activities, and functions consistently and dependably as scheduled or assigned.
  • Work evenings and weekends, including Monday through Thursday until 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
