  • Utility customers can switch to ABB, Siemens, or Eaton if SEL quality slips.

What makes Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories unique

  • SEL owns 109 offices worldwide and 2 million square feet, enabling tight execution.
  • Its protection-and-automation hardware serves critical infrastructure, not discretionary enterprise IT spending.

Schweitzer Engineering invests $150M in Idaho manufacturing expansion with 250 new jobs

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is expanding its manufacturing operations with a $150 million investment in a 103,000-square-foot facility in Nampa, Idaho. The Pullman-based company, which produces equipment that protects and monitors critical infrastructure, expects the new site to create approximately 250 jobs initially. The expansion aims to reduce lead times and increase production capacity to meet growing global demand for SEL products. This marks the company's fourth manufacturing expansion in two years, following new facilities in Moscow and Charlotte, North Carolina, and a property acquisition in Pullman. The Nampa facility, located at 1406 N. Galleria Drive, represents a long-term commitment to supporting customers and preparing for sustained growth, according to company founder Ed Schweitzer.

SEL to transform vacant Pullman building into $63.5M manufacturing facility with 300 jobs by 2027

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories will purchase the former Pullman Building Supply property on Fairmount Drive in Pullman, the company announced Friday. SEL plans to transform the 35,810-square-foot building into a modern manufacturing facility for its products. The facility is expected to open in early 2027 with 300 employees. The property has been vacant since Moscow & Pullman Building Supply closed its Pullman location in November 2024. This expansion follows SEL's $50 million manufacturing facility currently under construction in Moscow next to its existing printed circuit board factory on Reisenauer Road. That facility will also be completed in 2027 and eventually employ 1,000 people. SEL currently has more than 300 job openings in Pullman and 500 across the US and globally.
