About the company

Eden Technologies uses advanced reverse osmosis to tackle global water scarcity for industrial and municipal clients. Its systems aim to improve freshwater recovery beyond typical limits, reducing waste and lowering costs. The company runs pilot tests with key customers and plans high-volume OEM purchases to establish long-term, annual contracts that generate recurring revenue. Unlike others, Eden bases pricing on the value customers receive and builds a business model around repeat deployments and ongoing service. The goal is to provide reliable, affordable clean water at scale, improving freshwater recovery rates and expanding access to water across communities.

What believers are saying

  • July 22, 2026 Genesis launch gives Eden a fresh commercial narrative.
  • Eden says Genesis addresses a $150 million sales opportunity in oil and gas.
  • Hiring for engineers in Lockhart during 2026 signals active pilot execution and buildout.

What critics are saying

  • Eden remains a 2026 pilot company; no large customer orders are public yet.
  • Only $3.3 million funded since 2020; scaling Genesis demands far more capital.
  • If fouling, rotor wear, or membrane failure persist, Genesis never reaches commercial viability.

What makes Eden Technologies unique

  • Genesis, launched July 22, 2026, spins reverse osmosis membranes inside a centrifuge.
  • Eden claims over 80% water recovery, versus 30%–40% for conventional desalination.
  • First target market is Texas oilfield produced water, not crowded municipal procurement.

The Hustle

Texas startup Eden Tech raises $3.3M to cut desalination energy use by 2x-3x and extract valuable minerals from brine

Eden Tech, a Texas-based startup, has developed a novel desalination system that uses centrifugal force rather than traditional high-pressure filtration. The company's reverse osmosis centrifuge functions like a "salad spinner", requiring 2x-3x less energy than thermal systems whilst retaining approximately twice as much water. The approach addresses key issues with conventional desalination, which only retains 30%-40% of processed water and produces harmful brine waste. Eden plans to extract valuable minerals like lithium and rubidium from leftover brine, creating an additional revenue stream whilst reducing environmental waste. The company has raised $3.3 million in funding since launching in 2020. It recently unveiled its Genesis machine and aims to scale the technology for commercial use over the next year.

Eden Tech launches desalination technology targeting oilfield produced water. July 27, 2026 (WO) - Eden Tech has launched Genesis, a reverse osmosis desalination system designed to improve water recovery from high-salinity produced water, with the oil and gas industry serving as the technology's initial commercial market. According to the company, Genesis combines reverse osmosis with centrifuge technology to recover more than 80% of clean water from high-salinity feedwater, compared with approximately 30% to 40% for conventional reverse osmosis systems. By placing reverse osmosis membranes inside a centrifuge, the system is designed to generate the pressure required for desalination while reducing membrane fouling, eliminating the need for dedicated high-pressure pumps. Eden Tech said the technology is aimed at addressing the growing challenge of produced water management in U.S. oil and gas operations, where roughly 1 trillion gallons of high-salinity produced water are generated annually. The company said higher water recovery rates could reduce disposal volumes while creating opportunities to recover minerals from concentrated brine streams. "Water scarcity is one of the defining global challenges of our time," said Hunter Manz, founder and CEO of Eden Tech. "Our mission is to deliver reliable and affordable freshwater supplies, and protect them for future generations." Beyond upstream applications, Eden Tech said Genesis is also being evaluated for municipal water supplies, data center cooling, brine mining and lithium extraction. The company said commercial opportunities for the system currently represent more than $150 million in potential sales.
