Requirements
  • Extensive knowledge of communications wiring standards and installation practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of hosted Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of telecommunications nomenclature and common terms.
  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of various test equipment and diagnostic software.
  • Ability to organize work precisely, work under pressure, meet deadlines, work independently and as part of a team, and complete tasks without clear direction.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in oral and written form using varied communication techniques and tools.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies.
  • An Associate’s degree in a relevant technology field and experience successfully providing technical support to end users, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A valid motor vehicle operator’s license meeting North Carolina requirements.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or exert up to 25 pounds and frequently drive automotive equipment.
Responsibilities
  • Design, install, configure, test, manage, monitor, support, and troubleshoot Unified Communication systems focused on telecommunications.
  • Assist district end users and inspect work performed by hosted service provider staff, vendors, and school system personnel to ensure compliance with industry and district specifications and quality standards.
  • Build, configure, install, monitor, and support the school district’s Voice over Internet Protocol telecommunications system.
  • Supervise Move-Add-Change activities for district Cisco phones, voicemail, email integration, remote calling functions, and faxing platforms.
  • Generate reports for school and administrative staff concerning phone extension inventories, call histories, and related functions.
  • Use the hosted Voice over Internet Protocol service provider platform to submit Help Desk tickets and make programming changes and additions for district end users.
  • Organize, schedule, and monitor the work of Infrastructure Support Field Technicians.
  • Create and update district documentation for call centers, Help Desks, and Auto Attendant features configured on the district phone system.
  • Set up and maintain Auto Attendant features, call handlers, and dial-by-number directories associated with the phone system.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
