Requirements
  • Earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
  • Five to ten years of industrial experience in the applicable field or fields is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction.
  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities.
  • Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
  • A distinguished record warranting a tenured faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
  • Applicants must submit a completed online application, cover letter or letter of interest, curriculum vitae or resume, at least three current professional references with full contact information, unofficial transcripts, and a philosophy statement related to teaching and research of no more than 1,500 words.
  • Applicants with degrees earned outside the United States must submit English-translated transcripts and an official credential evaluation from a recognized service.
  • Official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution before a letter of appointment is issued.
  • Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation and verification of credentials and other information required by institutional procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lectures, seminars, and laboratory offerings to undergraduate and graduate students, potentially including general education core curriculum.
  • Develop course syllabi, select instructional materials, and design assessments such as exams, quizzes, and papers.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and evaluate student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
  • Engage students in active learning, foster critical thinking, and provide opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and hands-on learning.
  • Provide academic support and guidance through office hours, assignment feedback, and mentoring.
  • Adhere to university policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements related to teaching.
  • Incorporate innovative teaching methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current in the field, improve teaching skills, and explore new instructional strategies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, departmental faculty, and university staff to coordinate course offerings, share resources, and contribute to program development and improvement.
  • Participate in institutional service roles, including college committees, advisory committees, student and faculty recruitment, and mentoring new and part-time faculty.
  • Support accreditation efforts for academic programs.
  • Maintain an active agenda for research, scholarship, or creative activity appropriate to the academic discipline.
  • Make original contributions through scholarly publication, presentation, or exhibition.
  • Develop potential for external funding, national impact, or professional recognition.
  • Teach and develop face-to-face manufacturing courses involving extensive laboratory work in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology programs, with possible online undergraduate engineering technology teaching assignments.
