Requirements
  • B.A.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
  • Registered member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience involved in the design and implementation of medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems and solid understanding of field instrumentation
  • Experience with supervising small electrical teams and development of junior staff
  • Demonstrated experience working on healthcare, commercial, residential and municipal projects and pursuits
  • Experience with managing client relations, scope changes, schedule and budgets, and delivering multiple mid to small sized engineering projects under tight deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standards, relevant industry standards and regulations; understanding of medium voltage and low voltage power distribution design concepts, equipment and personnel safety strategies and electrical system protection theories and applications
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, diligence, and sound judgment
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn
  • Well organized, able to multi-task and work in fast-paced changing environments; strong organizational, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills
  • Ability to relate and coordinate with multi-functional teams; experience working with developers and architectural firms is an asset
  • G class driver’s license
Responsibilities
  • Research, design, develop, test, or coordinate the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, or systems for commercial, industrial, military, or scientific use or for large-scale production and distribution of electrical power
  • Work on a broad spectrum of electrical aspects for multiple projects including new installations, upgrades of existing systems, testing, commissioning, and construction support
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of low voltage power distribution design, motor control concepts and functionality, electrical system protection and control, standby power options and implementation, detailed design work, construction contract administration and support, and commissioning activities for commercial and residential buildings, healthcare as well as municipal and industrial sectors
  • Adapt to different clients’ design standards, manage client relations and pursuits
Desired Qualifications
  • PMP designation is an asset
  • P.Eng. in provinces outside Ontario is an asset
  • Experience with managing client relations, scope changes, schedule and budgets, tight deadlines while delivering multiple projects (already covered)
  • Experience with multi-functional teams and coordination with developers and architectural firms is an asset
  • G class driver’s license (already in requirements)
