About the Job

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in software, data, or platform engineering, including at least 6 years leading engineering teams and at least 2 years managing managers.
  • A demonstrated track record of building and shipping platform products at scale, such as internal developer platforms, AI/ML infrastructure, or modern data platforms.
  • Deep hands-on fluency with large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, agent frameworks such as LangGraph or LangChain, Model Context Protocol, prompt engineering, and evaluation and observability.
  • Hands-on understanding of private large language model deployment and optimization, including open-weight models, supervised fine-tuning, preference optimization, quantization, inference serving, GPU infrastructure, model evaluation, and secure model operations.
  • Experience designing hybrid AI architectures that route requests between private models and commercial foundation models while maintaining security, quality, latency, and cost controls.
  • A strong data engineering and analytics foundation, including lakehouse architectures such as Fabric, Databricks, or Snowflake, change data capture, streaming, dbt-style transformation, semantic layers, and analytics-grade data quality; experience building data platforms for both people and machines.
  • A security and governance mindset, with experience building systems that needed to pass audits.
  • Ability to partner with non-technical business functions and translate ambiguous requirements into platform capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage executive leadership and pair-program with individual contributors.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end strategy, roadmap, and execution for the AI Platform and Data pillar, including Model Context Protocol servers, agent runtime and orchestration framework, AI-native data platform, analytics products, and governance.
  • Scale and lead a multi-team organization spanning orchestration, data engineering, analytics, and governance; recruit, mentor, and develop engineering managers and technical leads, and raise the bar on inherited leaders.
  • Build the AI-native data platform, including change data capture pipelines, a semantic layer designed for large language model consumption, lineage, freshness service-level agreements, and a quality framework for trustworthy agent outputs.
  • Move the company from static dashboards to agent-driven insights, including natural-language analytics, autonomous deep dives, anomaly detection, and proactive surfacing of business signals.
  • Define and enforce architectural patterns that let product teams across Finance, HR, Legal, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, and go-to-market systems ship AI-powered internal workflows on a shared platform without repeatedly rebuilding infrastructure.
  • Own the company’s private large language model strategy and operating model, including model selection, fine-tuning and post-training, secure deployment, inference infrastructure, evaluation, observability, and lifecycle management; build private models for internal agents, AI-assisted software development, and sensitive-data workflows where public or externally hosted models are unsuitable.
  • Establish the architecture and decision framework for routing workloads between company-hosted models and approved external foundation models based on data classification, security requirements, latency, quality, and cost.
  • Build and govern training and evaluation data pipelines for improving private models, including dataset curation, anonymization, access controls, versioning, benchmarking, red-team testing, and protection against data leakage.
  • Partner with Security, Engineering, Legal, and Product teams to define private-model use cases for secure coding, internal knowledge retrieval, cybersecurity analysis, operational agents, and regulated or customer-sensitive workflows.
  • Eliminate shadow IT by designing Model Context Protocol servers, data connectors, and agent primitives that are faster, safer, and easier to use than do-it-yourself alternatives.
  • Establish governance for model access, data classification, auditing, evaluation, and cost controls so the company can adopt AI broadly without compromising security or compliance.
  • Drive a development culture using agentic coding, AI-assisted software development, and internal tooling to increase platform-team engineering productivity.
  • Represent the pillar to executive leadership, business-function heads, and external partners; own its narrative, roadmap, and results.

Desired Qualifications

  • Background in cybersecurity, critical infrastructure, or another regulated industry.
  • Experience fine-tuning or post-training open-weight models for enterprise, cybersecurity, software engineering, or domain-specific use cases.
  • Familiarity with private inference platforms and tooling such as vLLM, SGLang, Hugging Face, NVIDIA NIM, Kubernetes-based GPU serving, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience automating revenue operations, finance, HR, or legal workflows through AI.
  • Familiarity with SugarCRM, Salesforce, or comparable enterprise-system metadata and integration patterns.
  • Experience standing up Model Context Protocol servers, agent infrastructure, or AI gateways in production.
  • A point of view on how AI is changing how internal engineering teams ship software and how to bring that perspective to a company of more than 700 people.

About the Company

OPSWAT

Protects critical infrastructure from malware

OPSWAT provides cybersecurity solutions that protect critical infrastructure from malware and zero-day attacks by focusing on threat prevention and secure data transfer. Its products secure files and devices at all stages—entry, exit, and rest—ensuring secure access and safe data exchange. The company differentiates itself through deep specialization in high-risk sectors like energy, finance, and government, and by achieving widespread trust (notably 98% of U.S. nuclear power facilities) for its compliance-driven approach. Its goal is to help organizations maintain secure, compliant operations and minimize the risk of cyber compromise while keeping systems productive.
