Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • A Registered Nurse (RN) license to practice in New York State.
  • Five years of Registered Nurse experience, including at least three years of supervisory or administrative experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the ambulatory clinic in collaboration with the Department Administrator to develop and implement policies and procedures for the efficient flow of outpatient care.
  • Supervise staff at the ambulatory care site.
  • Work with the Department Administrator on human resources tasks, including recruitment, training, staff development, performance program evaluations, performance improvement plans, clinical competencies, and recertifications.
  • Triage patient phone calls.
  • Review laboratory reports and report abnormal results to physicians.
  • Manage operational aspects of the outpatient clinic, including monitoring patient-related statistics, coordinating room utilization, developing and implementing standardized procedures and practices, and following Department of Health, Joint Commission, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards.
  • Update policies and procedures to meet the changing needs of the department, physicians, and patients.
  • Perform quality improvement projects.
  • Attend meetings and related training sessions.
  • Provide physicians and Physician Assistants with nursing assistance as needed.
  • Perform postoperative care and suture removal.
  • Act as a liaison and problem solver between physicians, staff, and patients.
  • Follow up on and rectify problems reported by staff, physicians, and patients.
  • Prepare fiscal, operational, and patient-care reports as directed by the Department Administrator.
  • Represent the department on committees, including the Ambulatory Care Committee, as needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • Advanced nursing degree.
  • Experience with triage.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission (JCAHO) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
