About the job

Requirements
  • At least 5 years of experience contributing to a software engineering team, including customer-facing delivery, implementation, or solutions engineering.
  • A BS, MS, or PhD in computer science, a scientific field, or an engineering field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in Python or TypeScript, and in C# or Java.
  • A strong understanding of networking and Internet of Things fundamentals, including TCP/IP, MQTT, and REST APIs.
  • Experience working directly with technical and non-technical customer stakeholders and translating their requirements and constraints into engineering work.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including technical documentation for an external audience.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites.
Responsibilities
  • Own the technical delivery of each customer implementation end-to-end, from discovery and integration design through build, validation, and go-live.
  • Convert customer-specific work into reusable platform components, tools, and documented integration patterns so each implementation is faster than the last.
  • Work directly with original equipment manufacturer engineering teams to onboard, validate, and integrate their hardware, firmware, and backend systems into the Aerovy cloud.
  • Design and implement integration and ingestion pipelines that bring customer-specific data onto the platform.
  • Run technical discovery with customer engineering teams, propose integration strategies, and unblock customer-side dependencies.
  • Partner with the Customer Success Manager on the implementation plan, including kickoff, scoping, data and integration readiness, user acceptance testing, and go-live; own the engineering workstreams within it.
  • Support post-integration monitoring, debugging, and system validation across edge-to-cloud workflows.
  • Bring customer needs back to the platform team as clear engineering requirements.
  • Develop repeatable processes and infrastructure for Forward Deployed workflows.
  • Hire and lead junior forward deployed engineers as the Forward Deployed Engineering organization grows.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with embedded systems, Internet of Things devices, telematics, or industrial hardware.
  • Experience translating device data formats over common protocols such as CAN, Modbus, MQTT, and custom serial into platform-ready formats.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise customers, distilling their requirements, and implementing them.
  • Experience in cloud infrastructure, infrastructure as code, and tooling, preferably AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, and CloudFormation or CDK.
  • Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
  • Experience with near-real-time or real-time analytics and time-series databases.

About the company

Aerovy Mobility provides cloud software for energy management in electric aircraft infrastructure, serving utilities, microgrids, and EV charging facilities in the Advanced Air Mobility market. Its platform automates forecasting, energy arbitrage, grid contracts selection, asset assessment, and automated billing through the Virtual Energy Management System, with remote control of all energy assets from a single interface. An infrastructure siting tool analyzes network-wide forecasting and planning to optimize asset placement and operation. The company differentiates itself by offering an end-to-end, cloud-based solution tailored to AAM, backed by Purdue University affiliation to access research and talent, with a focus on turning data into higher energy margins and lower manual work.

What believers are saying

  • Aerovy raised seed funding on September 14, 2026, after a 2023 pre-seed.
  • July 2026 partnerships with Electro.Aero and SkyScape expand distribution into AAM infrastructure.
  • Purdue Innovates backed Aerovy from the PhD stage, strengthening recruiting and investor access.

What critics are saying

  • No disclosed customers by Q4 2026 leaves Aerovy dependent on another funding round.
  • The 2026 pivot from electric-aircraft energy software to OEM field-service AI confuses buyers.
  • Salesforce, ServiceNow, and PTC bundle similar automation quickly, crushing Aerovy's standalone pricing.

What makes Aerovy unique

  • Aerovy's September 2026 platform layers AI agents over OEM systems without rip-and-replace.
  • Purdue roots and 2026 certifications, SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, reduce enterprise friction.
  • Aerovy spans diagnostics, parts, scheduling, and reporting in one workflow engine.

Aerovy at the 2026 Midwest Deep Tech Demo Day.

Aerovy at the 2026 Midwest Deep Tech Demo Day. Jul 1, 2026 On June 23, Aerovy pitched at the 2026 Midwest Deep Tech Demo Day in San Francisco, an event organized by Purdue Innovates as part of SF Deep Tech Week, hosted at Third Coast Foundry. Purdue Innovates was Aerovy's early institutional backer, investing when Nick was still a PhD student in Purdue's School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. When they extended the invitation to pitch alongside 42 other Midwest deep tech companies in front of San Francisco investors, it was an easy yes. What the event was. The Midwest Deep Tech Demo Day brought together 43 companies affiliated with 8 Midwest-based universities, spanning advanced materials, cleantech, semiconductors, robotics, quantum, healthtech, and AI, to pitch in front of West Coast investors in a single session. It was organized through Third Coast Foundry, a physical space in San Francisco built specifically for Midwest university-founded startups traveling to the Bay Area. The premise is direct: Midwest companies should not have to relocate to access West Coast capital. Third Coast Foundry brings the access to them. Why hardware-first AI companies belong in that room. Most of the 43 companies at the event build physical things: batteries, robots, semiconductors, medical devices, energy systems. The AI layer being built on top of those systems was well represented, and that is where Aerovy sits. The problem every hardware OEM eventually faces is the same: machines generate data, but that data lives in silos. Machine systems, ERPs, dealer networks, and customer records all speak different languages. Building the context layer to unify them takes 18 to 36 months in-house, if it gets prioritized at all. Aerovy is the AI operating layer that sits above telematics and existing systems. Aerovy Mobility, Inc. ingest machine, ERP, dealer, and customer data, resolve it into one governed ontology, and run branded apps, AI agents, and enterprise APIs on top, turning what used to be a multi-year integration program into a foundation OEMs can build on in weeks. That problem and solution landed clearly in a room full of founders building physical systems. Because everyone building hardware eventually hits the same wall: the machine works, the data exists, and nothing connects. What comes next. The concentration of Midwest deep tech companies, and the San Francisco investors who showed up to meet them, points to something real. Hardware-first companies are getting attention they have not always received from coastal capital. Events like this accelerate that. For Aerovy, it was a useful moment to sharpen the pitch, meet investors who understand physical systems, and represent the work Purdue Innovates helped make possible from the beginning. If you are a hardware OEM thinking about how to unify your data and build software services on top of your machines, Aerovy Mobility, Inc. would like to talk. Reach Aerovy Mobility, Inc. out.
