What believers are saying

  • The launch of the NeuroEquity Research Collaborative positions Understood.org as a leader in advancing equitable solutions for neurodivergent individuals.
  • Partnerships with prominent institutions like the Brooklyn Museum enhance the organization's visibility and impact in creating inclusive environments.
  • Significant grants, such as the $757,000 from Oak Foundation, enable the development of innovative digital resources like 'Through My Eyes,' which can transform attitudes and behaviors towards learning differences.

What critics are saying

  • Dependence on donations and grants can lead to financial instability, affecting the sustainability of their free resources.
  • The niche focus on learning and thinking differences may limit the organization's appeal to a broader audience, potentially restricting growth.

What makes Understood unique

  • Understood.org focuses exclusively on learning and thinking differences, providing specialized resources that are not as comprehensively covered by general educational support organizations.
  • Their reliance on expert-backed content and community support ensures high-quality, reliable information, setting them apart from less specialized competitors.
  • The organization's nonprofit model, sustained by donations and grants, allows it to offer all resources for free, making it more accessible than for-profit entities.
