iHeartRadio app adds Lite Mode to simplify mobile listening.

iHeartRadio app adds Lite Mode to simplify mobile listening. 2 hours ago iHeartRadio is adding a simplified listening option to its mobile app, giving users a way to switch between its full functionality and a streamlined interface focused on favorite stations and recently played content. The new Lite Mode is available on iOS and Android, with a toggle at the top of the app's homepage. The feature provides quick access to Presets, Recently Played and Local Radio without requiring listeners to leave the screen. The new option emphasizes currently playing content while allowing listeners to return to the full iHeartRadio experience at any time. "Radio is uniquely personal - it's about companionship. Our listeners sometimes want to browse and discover, and at other times they simply want to go directly to what they're looking for," said Conal Byrne, CEO of the iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group. "This new ability to toggle between full functionality and Lite Mode, which has just the essentials, gives them the opportunity to make every experience the right one for them." iHeartMedia Chief Programming Officer Tom Poleman said the feature is designed around listeners' loyalty to radio stations and personalities. "The average radio listener listens to 2-3 radio stations in a month vs. watching 40 TV channels in a month," Poleman said. "Lite Mode serves a real purpose when listeners are trying to quickly get to the shows and personalities they're passionate about and aren't looking to browse the entire service."

Subaru, ASPCA, and iHeartMedia expand animal shelter partnership with $25,000 donation and national broadcast campaign.

Subaru, ASPCA, and iHeartMedia expand animal shelter partnership with $25,000 donation and national broadcast campaign. The three-way collaboration adds fresh funding and nationwide radio reach to Subaru's 19-year commitment to shelter pet adoption, timed to the eighth annual National Make A Dog's Day on October 22. By AutoWorld Editorial · Oct 24, 2026 Updated Oct 24, 2026 Subaru of America, the ASPCA, and iHeartMedia have announced an expanded collaboration aimed at improving the lives of shelter animals across the United States, according to a press release published on the Subaru Media Center website. The announcement includes an additional $25,000 donation to the ASPCA and a national broadcast initiative through iHeartImpact, iHeartMedia's community impact division. The expanded partnership builds on a relationship between Subaru and the ASPCA that the release dates to 2008, when it began through the Subaru Share the Love Event. The press release describes Subaru as the largest corporate donor to the ASPCA and states that, through its Subaru Loves Pets initiative, the automaker and its retailers have donated more than $75 million to national and local pet-focused organizations, supporting the adoption, rescue, transport, and health of more than 900,000 animals. The timing of the announcement aligns with Subaru's annual October campaign, during which retailers partner with local animal welfare organizations to help prepare shelter pets for adoption using ASPCA-administered grants and community events. Central to this year's effort is the eighth annual National Make A Dog's Day, observed on October 22, a day the release says Subaru created to encourage people to do something special for their dogs and to consider adopting, fostering, or otherwise supporting animals the brand calls "Underdogs" - older and disabled dogs who, according to the release, are often overlooked and spend longer periods waiting in shelters. The $25,000 donation was made possible through the iHeartImpact program, which the release describes as a structure enabling corporate brands to direct a portion of their advertising spending toward nonprofit partners. On the media side, iHeartMedia and iHeartImpact will support a national broadcast campaign designed to drive awareness of shelter pet adoption and fostering. The release states that iHeartMedia reaches nine out of ten Americans each month. The ASPCA cited figures from 2025 indicating that 5.8 million dogs and cats entered shelters and rescues that year, underscoring what the release characterizes as ongoing and significant demand for adoption and fostering support. Subaru's Senior Vice President of Marketing, Alan Bethke, was quoted in the release emphasizing the impact of the partnership on vulnerable animals. The ASPCA's Director of Corporate Partnerships, Meredith Galli, expressed gratitude for the donation and said it would help strengthen the organization's efforts to create better outcomes for animals nationwide. The President of iHeartMedia's National Media Team, Jenna Craig, highlighted the potential reach of the campaign across the company's audience. More information about Subaru's shelter animal programs is available at Subaru.com/pets, according to the release. iHeartMedia CEO warns of podcast deal "exuberance" as podcast revenue climbs 20.7% to $162M

iHeartMedia chief executive officer Bob Pittman has criticised rivals' podcast talent deals, saying some companies are paying more than they can earn back. He spoke at Media Trends Live in New York City on Tuesday. Asked about SiriusXM's four-year agreement with "Giggly Squad," Pittman said iHeartMedia, which has roughly 800 podcasts, will not spend beyond what a show can earn. "If the deal is throwing away crazy money, we don't believe in it," he said. iHeartMedia's podcast revenue rose 20.7% year over year to $162 million in the second quarter of 2026. Its digital audio segment generated $123 million in adjusted EBITDA, against $59 million for its traditional multiplatform business. Pittman said video is adding podcast audiences and revenue.
