About the company

Allswell provides virtual mental health care focused on the LGBTQ+ community, offering identity-centered services through a mix of individual therapy, structured group programs, and digital tools. Therapies use Affirmative CBT and Cognitive Processing Therapy, with all therapists belonging to the LGBTQ+ community, holding master’s degrees, and receiving specialized training. The model uses virtual group therapy to lower costs and combat loneliness, and it bills through insurance partnerships (Maryland Medicaid, Cigna, CareFirst BCBS, UnitedHealthcare) while offering private-pay options for others. The goal is to expand access to affirming, evidence-based care by growing the therapist network, expanding to more states, and strengthening its digital offerings.

Allswell secures $7M to expand LGBTQ+ mental health services.

Allswell secures $7M to expand LGBTQ+ mental health services. By Whitney Blake - October 19, 2026 Allswell, a behavioral health company focused on the LGBTQ+ community, has secured $7 million in seed funding. The company offers virtual therapy, group programs, and trauma-informed care, connecting patients with therapists who are either part of the LGBTQ+ community or have experience serving it. Allswell addresses issues like depression, anxiety, and family relationships, and is developing a PTSD curriculum. Its services are covered by commercial insurance and Medicaid. With this funding, the company aims to expand its clinical training program and launch a medication management service next year. The funding round was led by Rethink Impact, with participation from Magnify Ventures, Ulu Ventures, and Hopelab Ventures. Existing investors Techstars and Amboy Street Ventures also joined, bringing Allswell's total funding to $8.3 million. "We are building the medical home for LGBTQ+ people, starting with behavioral healthcare," said Dawn Androphy, CEO of Allswell. "Our ambition is to keep developing thoughtful clinical programs specifically for the LGBTQ+ community, regardless of the political climate." Julie Wroblewski, managing partner at Magnify Ventures, highlighted the team's understanding of the patient population and the model's effectiveness. "What drew us to Allswell was the combination of a founding team that deeply understands this patient population and a model that actually works," she said. Allswell currently serves patients in Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia, with about 1,500 billable sessions per month. The company launched in spring 2025 and has since focused on addressing gaps in LGBTQ+ care. According to The Trevor Project's 2025 report, 36% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered suicide in the past year, and 44% of those seeking mental health care were unable to access it. Androphy noted that fewer than 50% of medical students receive LGBTQ+ care training, and 80% feel unprepared to serve this community. Allswell's approach centers on insurance coverage, ensuring accessibility. "LGBTQ+ adults are more likely to postpone or skip care they need, and Medicaid covers a larger share of our community than of the population overall," Androphy said. "Being in-network determines who actually gets care, so we built Allswell around insurance and Medicaid from the start."

Allswell raises $7M to grow LGBTQ+ behavioral health platform. Allswell's seed round was led by Rethink Impact, and included participation from Magnify Ventures, Ulu Ventures and Hopelab Ventures, joining existing investors Techstars and Amboy Street Ventures. Allswell, a behavioral health company for the LGBTQ+ community, announced on Wednesday that it raised $7 million in seed funding. The company provides one-on-one virtual therapy, group programs and trauma-informed care. It connects patients with therapists who are part of the LGBTQ+ community or are screened for their experience serving the community. Allswell treats depression and anxiety, and supports patients through family dynamics and social transition. It is also building its own curriculum for PTSD. Its services are covered by commercial insurance and Medicaid. "We are building the medical home for LGBTQ+ people, starting with behavioral healthcare," said Dawn Androphy, CEO of Allswell. "Our ambition is to keep developing thoughtful clinical programs specifically for the LGBTQ+ community, regardless of the political climate. This is a sleeping-giant category that has been underestimated at every step, and continues to grow every day." presented by What if health plans could identify member decline before an avoidable hospitalization occurs? Real-time clinical visibility into long-stay SNF members uncovers risk earlier and drives better outcomes. The seed round was led by Rethink Impact, and included participation from Magnify Ventures, Ulu Ventures and Hopelab Ventures, joining existing investors Techstars and Amboy Street Ventures. In total, Allswell has raised $8.3 million. "What drew us to Allswell was the combination of a founding team that deeply understands this patient population and a model that actually works - reimbursed by insurance, grounded in clinical outcomes, and built around the kind of trust that drives real retention," said Julie Wroblewski, managing partner at Magnify Ventures, in a statement. The financing will be used to grow the company's clinical training program so it can onboard more clinicians who can serve the LGBTQ+ community, Androphy said. In addition, Allswell is launching a medication management offering next year, which the funding presented by In an interview, Kyan Health Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer Konstantin Struck discussed how Kyan gives mid-market and enterprise employers access to premium workforce mental healthcare, at a price point that is affordable. will support. The company's clinicians currently refer patients out for medication needs. "We want to be a holistic care provider for patients and allow them to get all their mental health needs met in one place," Androphy said. Allswell first launched in spring 2025 and now serves patients in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. It holds about 1,500 billable sessions per month, according to its announcement. According to The Trevor Project's 2025 report, 36% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered suicide in the past year, and 44% of those who wanted mental health care were unable to access it. Part of the issue is a training gap, Androphy said, noting that fewer than 50% of medical students receive any LGBTQ+ care training and 80% don't feel confident caring for this community. Coverage is a major part of what Allswell is building, Androphy added. "LGBTQ+ adults are more likely to postpone or skip care they need, and Medicaid covers a larger share of our community than of the population overall. Being in-network determines who actually gets care, so we built Allswell around insurance and Medicaid from the start," Androphy said.

LGBTQ+ therapy platform Allswell raises $7M.

LGBTQ+ therapy platform Allswell raises $7M. Allswell, a virtual behavioral health provider specializing in LGBTQ+ care, has announced a $7 million seed round led by ReThink Impact. With $1.3 million raised in an earlier pre-seed fundraise, Allswell now has a total capital runway of $8.3 million to expand into new territories. Allswell CEO and co-founder Dawn Androphy is focused on expanding services to regions with sizable LGBTQ populations and large unmet needs to start. The company will also use the capital to build out its internal clinical excellence training programs for all therapists who come onto its platform, with special LGBTQ-focused content. "[Our focused training] means that you really know how to serve this population and you really know the right evidence-based modalities to use," Androphy told Behavioral Health Business. "It will also look like continuing to grow our presence in the region and continuing to grow the ways in which we serve our patients, be that through new clinical programs that we'll have more details about in the coming months, but also through adding new lines of business such as medication management." Although Allswell is headquartered in San Francisco, the company only provides care in the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia area currently. Androphy noted that expanding to serve patients via medication needs as well will also be an opportunity to add new expertise to its blended 1099 and W2 workforce model. "We work with early-career therapists who have recently graduated from their master's program and require supervision," Androphy said. "So for us, when we talk about the provider shortage, in many ways we are talking about the shortage of fully licensed providers with specific training in LGBTQ issues. We solve for both of those by providing direct supervision and also training our providers specifically on how to work with LGBTQ patients from the baseline that they bring from lived experience or academic work." Allswell serves hundreds of patients and has around 40 clinicians on its platform. The telehealth company is in-network with commercial insurance and Medicaid, which around two-thirds of its patient population benefits from. And while some may consider serving only the LGBTQ+ population as a "niche" market, this focus is partially what attracted investment attention from ReThink, which previously backed SpringHealth and often invests in female-led technology companies. "It's anything but niche," Heidi Patel, Managing Partner at Rethink Impact, told BHB. "It is specialty care and that is something I'm seeing being rewarded by the investment community, by payers, to the benefit of the whole healthcare system. That's where I think the market is going. This population is almost a 31-million-person community that's growing incredibly fast. It's this huge generational shift that we're witnessing that's showing no signs of slowing down." Patel will also be joining Allswell's board to continue advising the company on strategy as it grows. According to the most recent data from the Human Rights Campaign, there are around 25.6 million adults in the U.S. who identify as LGBTQ+ and 54% of that population is younger than 35 years of age. As Allswell expands, its long-term goal is to become a centralized behavioral health care home for the LGBTQ+ community. That said, M&A activity is not yet on the horizon. "I see across our entire U.S. healthcare system that the majority of medical students are getting little to no training on LGBTQ+ issues," Androphy said. "Around 80% say that they don't feel competent serving LGBTQ+ patients and their needs. As a whole, in our entire system, we have huge gaps... What we're looking to do is something much bigger and more disruptive, where we are building a medical home that's truly designed for this community and brings to market clinical modalities and scales those that are proven to work for this population."
