Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least ten years of experience in the commercial construction industry.
  • Experience frequently estimating commercial projects up to $15 million, including healthcare, financial, and light industrial projects, and occasionally larger projects.
  • Ability to manage more than two projects simultaneously and balance workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in project estimation software, Microsoft Office, and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • A valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites.
  • Preferred BS degree in Building Construction Management or a similar major.
  • Knowledge of estimating or managing commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to travel as needed for pre-bid site visits, training, seminars, and task team meetings.
  • Expanding knowledge of construction details.
  • Self-organization and management skills, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Integrity and support for company values and employees, with focus on meeting and exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including sitting, walking, standing, repetitive hand motions, reaching, bending, lifting up to 20 pounds, and climbing stairs.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare project cost forecasts by reviewing drawings and specifications, gathering details, compiling data, and attending pre-submission site visits; provide CSI division cost breakdowns and written assumptions and clarifications.
  • Estimate costs for raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation.
  • Help determine project resources based on cost estimates and budget constraints.
  • Analyze project completion timelines.
  • Develop and publish complete bid packages for trade partners and vendors, including scopes of work, alternates, allowances, and breakouts.
  • Qualify trade partner and vendor bids and level costs as needed to ensure complete scope of work.
  • Review costs internally and externally to support client satisfaction and successful project awards.
  • Lead estimating efforts for traditional design-bid-build projects, including hard bids and general contractor fees.
  • Mentor interns, coordinators, and assistant estimators, and support their leadership development.
  • Participate in professional organizations focused on contractors and subcontractors, such as Associated Builders and Contractors.
