Greenberg Traurig adds capital markets muscle in Mexico.

Greenberg Traurig adds capital markets muscle in Mexico. The firm has added a team of capital markets and finance lawyers in Mexico in response to increased client demand and market sophistication. Greenberg Traurig has raided Holland & Knight for talent as it eyes expansion of its capital markets and finance offerings in Mexico, welcoming Guillermo Uribe Lara and Adrián Gay Lasa as shareholders, while Jorge González and Carlos Guijarro join as associates. The hires were confirmed yesterday (23 September). José Raz Guzmán, Mexico office co-managing shareholder, said the appointments coincided with the firm's 15th anniversary in Mexico City and reflected its "continued strategic growth in Mexico and across Latin America while further strengthening [its] capabilities in key practice areas that are critical to [its] clients". Uribe Lara, Gay Lasa and González exit Holland & Knight after a 12-year tenure, having previously worked together at DLA Piper and Holland & Knight legacy firm Thompson & Knight. Guijarro, who began his legal career in 2021 at SMPS Legal, departs Holland & Knight following a two-year stint. Together, the team advises financial institutions, sponsors, companies, and Mexican and foreign investors on capital markets, banking and securities law, structured finance, mergers and acquisitions, real estate deals, and corporate issues across the hospitality, real estate, financial services and infrastructure sectors. Greenberg Traurig Latin America practice co-chair Marc Rossel commented: "This team brings outstanding experience in capital markets and finance, significantly enhancing our offering in the country and the region. Their addition further strengthens our platform and enables us to deliver even greater value to clients operating in these dynamic sectors." "We are honored to become part of the Latin America practice in Greenberg Traurig," added Uribe Lara. "We look forward to further strengthening the firm's client service capabilities and to extending the benefits of a global platform to our clients around the world." News also broke this week of the appointment of shareholder Sofiya Bumagin to the firm's London-based energy and natural resources practice. Bumagin, who arrives from Sidley Austin, brings expertise in infrastructure mergers and acquisitions with a focus on energy transition and digital infrastructure issues.

Even if you believe your risk is minimal, it's best to take proactive steps to protect yourself. Some of these recommended steps can be found listed below. What immediate actions should I take? * Monitor your financial accounts - Regularly check your bank, credit card, and online accounts for unauthorized transactions. * Change your passwords - Update passwords for any accounts that may be connected to the breach.
