August 7, 2026 Les Schwab Tire Center is planning two west Omaha stores now that its first metro area location is open in Papillion's Tower District. Construction has started on an 8,300 sq. ft. Les Schwab center southwest of 204th & F Street. The tire retailer also plans to another store southeast of 165th & West Maple Road. This address is associated with the former Burger King at 177th & West Center Road. Les Schwab Tires has laid off 70 employees at its Bend headquarters as part of a restructuring effort. Chief Administrative Officer Jodie Hueske said the changes will "better align resources around serving stores, supporting customers, and supporting the company's continued growth." The tyre and auto service chain, which has over 9,000 employees and 600 locations, has expanded rapidly in recent years. It added 100 stores across four states in the past three years and plans to open 30 new locations this year. Affected employees will receive severance and extended benefits. The company was sold to San Francisco investment fund Meritage in 2020 and appointed a new CEO, Tom Nolan, in March.
