Space Intelligence secures Series A funding to expand forest mapping dataset to 35+ countries

Space Intelligence has completed its Series A funding round, led by AzurX Space Ventures with participation from Intercontinental Exchange. The Edinburgh-based company uses satellite data for high-precision nature mapping. The funds will expand Space Intelligence's forest mapping database to support forest carbon projects and monitor environmental impacts across supply chains. The company currently covers 640 million hectares across seven countries. By Q2 2025, Space Intelligence plans to expand coverage to over 35 additional countries, creating what it claims will be the largest audit-grade nature mapping dataset available. New data products enabling near real-time deforestation monitoring are scheduled for Q4 this year. Founded by Dr Murray Collins and Professor Ed Mitchard, the company has grown to over 50 staff, including 20 mapping scientists and ecologists.

NYSE parent ICE invests in tZERO, licenses 103 blockchain patents for tokenised securities platform

Intercontinental Exchange, parent of the New York Stock Exchange, has signed agreements with tZERO to build infrastructure for a tokenised securities platform. tZERO will serve as design partner for digital transfer-agent and broker-dealer systems supporting on-chain settlement. ICE will invest in tZERO's latest funding round and license its blockchain patent portfolio, which spans 23 patent families and 103 patents covering token lifecycles, compliance-aware transfer logic, and smart contract frameworks. tZERO is expected to seek approval as a digital transfer agent on ICE's NYSE-affiliated Digital Trading Platform. The companies will also evaluate using tZERO's tokenised assets for collateral management across ICE's clearing houses. The partnership marks tZERO's deepest tie to a major exchange operator. No timeline for regulatory approval or platform launch was disclosed.
