Requirements
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years experience.
Responsibilities
  • Win and manage larger NCDOT highway design projects.
  • Plan and conduct work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Manage clients and highway projects for local municipalities, NCDOT, and other organizations.
  • Create and track client proposals, including writing scopes, technical and price proposals, statements of interests, amendments, developing budgets and schedules, and identifying potential issues.
  • Prepare workload forecasting reports.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, survey, and other rules, regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of codes and standards applicable to project design.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate contract agreements for projects, and sign contract agreements within allotted parameters.
  • Identify new markets, develop leads and opportunities, perform business development activities, and pursue new geographies.
  • Coach, mentor, and motivate project team members and sub-consultants.
  • Direct, mentor, and guide team members and staff; provide annual performance evaluations and career development plans.
  • Manage project risk in accordance with company policy.
Desired Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or other professional licensure in the field of expertise.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a Project Team, with strong leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with clients, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other external sources.
  • Proficiency in public speaking, creating presentations, and delegation.
  • Knowledge of Microstation, Open Roads Designer, and ASTA.
