Six of the best: hot, new hotels coming to California's Sonoma County.

Six of the best: hot, new hotels coming to California's Sonoma County. A new vintage of accommodations is on the horizon in Sonoma County, California, led by the announcement that Soho House will be debuting Soho Ranch House Sonoma in 2027. The members' club's arrival is part of a broader wave of developments across the county, located just an hour north of San Francisco, with global brands like Hyatt and Caesars, alongside boutique brands and independents, preparing to welcome guests to wine country. This investment cements Sonoma County's reputation as a destination for those in-the-know who enjoy the varied landscapes - from coast to redwoods to vines - and its tangible roots as a community of farmers, winemakers, creatives and artisans. "Sonoma County has always attracted people who are drawn to its sense of place, independent spirit and creative energy, and this new generation of hotels reflects that appeal in exciting ways," said Sonoma County Tourism Director, Birgitt Vaughan. "From Soho Ranch House Sonoma's arrival in Kenwood to boutique retreats in Occidental and culinary-led hospitality in Petaluma, these openings are bringing fresh perspectives and experiences to communities that already have a strong identity of their own. "It's an exciting moment for Sonoma County as we welcome new investment and global attention while continuing to celebrate the farmers, winemakers, chefs, makers and artists who make this place so distinctive," she said. SOHO RANCH HOUSE SONOMA Opening 2027. Spread across 350 acres at the base of Hood Mountain, Soho Ranch House Sonoma will feature 50 cottages and villas when it opens next year. Guests can expect a social, wellness-centric atmosphere centered around farm-to-table dining venues, a signature Soho Health Club featuring two outdoor pools and immersive wellness programming, and an on-property vineyard. Located near the small town of Kenwood, just 20 minutes from Santa Rosa and the Charles M. Schulz International Airport, the spotlight will fall on this small town known for its natural beauty and proximity to world-class wineries in the so-called Valley of the Moon. Guests are just minutes from the historic, French-inspired grounds of Chateau St. Jean, the eclectic art gallery at Imagery Estate Winery and the hiking trails of Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, home to the Robert Ferguson Observatory which hosts regular solar and stargazing events. In the surrounding Kenwood-Glen Ellen corridor there's a stream of notable restaurants including the two Michelin-starred Enclos, The Girl and The Fig and Glen Ellen Star, reflecting Sonoma's longstanding reputation as a culinary hub. THE LITTLE BOHEMIAN Opening early 2027. Set in the heart of Occidental, The Little Bohemian will feature 13 stylish guest rooms, along with four hillside ÖÖD houses. A standout feature, the ÖÖD houses are Nordic-designed, high-end mirrored cabins designed for privacy while reflecting the surrounding hillside. Inside, guests will find a cosy retreat with panoramic views, designed for immersive, nature-forward stays. Outside there will be a pool, jacuzzi, saunas and evening firepit area. The property is being envisioned as a retreat where guests can enjoy both village charm and a sense of secluded escape near the slower rhythm of West Sonoma County. GRATON RESORT AND CASINO Ongoing expansion. Graton Resort and Casino, located in Rohnert Park between Santa Rosa and Petaluma, officially unveiled the second phase of its massive US$1 billion expansion on 4th May. This introduced 144,000 square feet of new gaming space, including an exclusive poker room and sports bar. Significant investment has been made into a new restaurant concept - AYA - which is headed up by MICHELIN-starred chef Roy Ellamar and his wife Jennifer Murphy-Ellamar. The restaurant is accessed through a US$1 million wine library tunnel and the menu features Coastal California cuisine with Asian influences. Other new dining options include SoCo Dough Co., an artisan donut shop styled like a modern diner. The final phases of the expansion will include a sleek second hotel tower with an additional 200 luxury rooms and an adults-only pool (2027), and a state-of-the-art 3,500-seat entertainment venue (2028). In the meantime, the venue continues to host artists with John Legend, Third Eye Blind and Ludacris due to perform. CAESARS REPUBLIC SONOMA COUNTY Opening 2027. Caesars Republic Sonoma County is a joint project between Dry Creek Rancheria and Caesars Entertainment to transform the River Rock Casino into an integrated resort. Sitting above the vineyards of the Alexander Valley, the resort is set to feature 100 design-led guest rooms, a luxury spa and multiple upscale dining venues including a steakhouse, an Asian concept and an elevated quick-service option. The resort will also feature a dedicated wine bar with outdoor seating offering views across the valley. With a modern gaming floor and the world-renowned Caesars Rewards program, the property will provide a unique bridge between high-stakes excitement and the sophisticated charm of Sonoma Wine Country. APPELLATION PETALUMA opening 2028. Following the opening of Appellation Healdsburg in September 2025, Appellation Petaluma will be the second property in Sonoma County from this 'culinary-first' brand founded by Chef Charlie Palmer and entrepreneur Christopher Hunsberger. Designed to sit naturally within its historic riverside location, the project offers a thoughtful convergence of past and present - a boutique experience that feels more like a local landmark than a traditional hotel with a signature dining destination dedicated to the region's agricultural bounty. The property's defining feature will be its expansive rooftop, which will provide rare, panoramic views across the river to the rolling hills beyond. Projected to open in 2028, the four-storey, 56-room boutique hotel will celebrate Petaluma's "egg basket" heritage - in the early 20th century Petaluma became the nation's leading egg supplier - blending world-class gastronomy with the authentic historic spirit of the city. HYATT PLACE SONOMA WINE COUNTRY Opening 2028. A contemporary anchor for Rohnert Park, the Hyatt Place Sonoma Wine Country (not to be confused with the Hyatt Regency Sonoma Wine Country) is being designed as a tech-led hub, offering a base for those balancing the destination's leisure experiences with its growing cultural and commercial centres. Suiting an array of travellers, the property will feature 165 rooms designed to provide distinct zones for sleep, work and relaxation, and will include suites overlooking the Sonoma hills as well as interconnecting rooms that are ideal for families. Soho House accused of relabelling out-of-date food as fresh.

Soho House accused of relabelling out-of-date food as fresh. By Johar Deep, Correspondent 01 October 2026 Soho House is investigating allegations relating to food labelling practices at its Shoreditch House venue in east London after a former employee raised concerns about food safety procedures. The matter is also being reviewed by Hackney Council, which confirmed it has opened an investigation after receiving a complaint concerning food safety and hygiene at the venue. According to reports, former employee Kamran Khan alleged that food labels were altered to display later preparation and expiry dates. He said he raised the issue internally before reporting it to the local authority. In a statement reported by multiple outlets, Soho House apologised for what it described as an "isolated food labelling incident" and said relabelling out-of-date food is not company policy. The company also stated that the employee's contract termination was unrelated to the food labelling complaint. No findings have yet been announced by either Hackney Council or Soho House, and the investigations remain ongoing.

Shoreditch House investigated over out-of-date food label tampering claims.

Shoreditch House investigated over out-of-date food label tampering claims. Read our privacy notice. Two investigations have been announced after a former employee at private members' club Soho House claimed he was told to alter labels on out-of-date food. The claims about the food safety practice at Shoreditch House, Soho House's east London branch, are under investigation by both Hackney Council and the company. Soho House, which charges up to £4,500 a year for membership, has apologised for what it said was an "isolated food labelling incident". The chain of private members' clubs is popular with A-list celebrities. The likes of Taylor Swift and Kate Moss have been spotted at its locations across the world, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, reportedly met on a blind date in 2016 at its Dean Street house in London. Kamran Khan, who worked at Shoreditch House for four months, told the London Standard he was instructed to remove labels from prepared food and replace them with new ones showing later preparation and expiry dates. Mr Khan, who began working at the club on May 18, said he raised a formal whistleblowing report with Soho House on July 10, warning that the alleged practice could pose a risk to food safety and public health. Khan's TikTok has received more than 1.6 million views Kamran Khan/Sohohouseopp/TikTok He initially posted a video about his experience on TikTok on Monday, September 28. The video has since received more than 1.6 million views and more than 2,000 comments. A Hackney Council spokesman confirmed it had received a report concerning food safety and hygiene at Shoreditch House and has opened an investigation. Hospitality worker Mr Khan was reportedly on probation at the venue when he raised the concerns in July. He told the Standard he was dismissed from his job on September 25, eight days after he said he reported the matter to Hackney Council. Soho House confirmed that Mr Khan's contract was terminated but said the decision was "entirely unrelated to food labelling". Soho House's Shoreditch branch achieved a five-star rating, the top mark, at its last hygiene inspection in March. According to Hackney Council's website, it is against the law to supply food that is unsafe or harmful to human health. Food businesses must ensure that they comply with relevant food law, the council said, and owners can face enforcement action if they are found to have breached safety regulations. Soho House said it was "very sorry" that an "isolated food labelling incident" had taken place. Soho House was bought for £2 billion last year with actor Ashton Kutcher part of the deal A spokesman said: "We're really sorry that this isolated food labelling incident took place at one of our kitchens. This is not how we expect our Houses to operate and it is not company policy. "We have taken immediate action, and our Director of Health and Safety together with an external, independent consultant conducted an investigation and audit as a matter of priority. "Delivering the highest level of food safety for our members and guests is incredibly important to us. Shoreditch House has consistently achieved the highest food hygiene rating score of '5' from Environmental Health inspections - most recently in March this year - and also performed strongly in an independent and unannounced external audit last week. "For clarity, the former employee's contract was terminated for reasons entirely unrelated to food labelling." The first Soho House opened on London's Greek Street, in the neighbourhood it takes its name from, in 1995. Today, there are 10 in the capital alone and dozens of houses around the world, as well as Soho House designed restaurants, hotels, cinemas and co-working spaces. Soho House was acquired by MCR Hotels last year in a deal valuing the company at £2 billion that took it off the New York Stock Exchange. The investors included actor Ashton Kutcher, who at the time of the purchase was set to join the Soho House board. MORE ABOUT

Freed From launches after assessing "more than 9,000" non-alcoholic drinks.

Freed From launches after assessing "more than 9,000" non-alcoholic drinks. By Lucy Britner September 8, 2026 New non-alcoholic drinks distributor Freed From has launched in the UK after a three-year global search that saw around 9,000 wines, spirits and elixirs tasted. The business, founded by entrepreneur and financier Charles Davies (pictured), has selected "fewer than 4%" of the drinks assessed to achieve its Made The Grade classification, with those products considered for inclusion in the Freed From Collection. The drinks were sourced from around 2,300 producers across 57 countries, with the final collection spanning non-alcoholic wines, spirits and elixirs. The company's portfolio brochure lists around 40 producers, including Bel Nada Drinks from Switzerland, Finote from France, Joy's Island Spice from the US and Weingut Bernhard Ellwanger from Germany. Freed Distribution, the UK distribution company within the Freed From Group, launched this week, with expansion into Europe through Freed From SL planned from 2027. Davies, who has lived alcohol-free for many years, said his interest in the category began with a search for drinks that offered more than an alternative to alcohol. "I became fascinated by the producers creating genuinely exceptional drinks, rather than simply alternatives to alcohol," he said. "That led me on a three-year journey of discovery, tasting thousands of non-alcoholic wines, spirits and elixirs from around the world - and ultimately to Freed From." The drinks considered for the collection were assessed by The Independent Panel, comprising professionals from the international drinks and hospitality industries, including sommeliers and mixologists. Wines were assessed under controlled tasting conditions, while spirits and elixirs were evaluated according to producers' recommended serves. Freed From said Made The Grade was a classification rather than an award, endorsement or marketing badge, based on the professional judgement of the panel. Alongside its full collection, the company is launching The Liquid Edit, which will offer curated selections for specific customers and occasions. The range includes a Retail Non-Alcoholic Selection Box, comprising 12 spirits and elixirs across a range of flavours and drinking experiences. Freed From has also appointed former Soho House UK director Antoine Melon as strategic ambassador and Nicolas Medicamento, known as Dr Cocktail, as ambassador for trade relationships. Davies said the business aimed to go beyond distributing individual products and instead build markets for the producers it represents. The collection will continue to evolve as new producers and drinks are discovered, assessed and classified.
