Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology with certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or another nationally recognized professional certifying body, or a four-year college education in an appropriate science with six years of closely related clinical laboratory experience.
  • Six years of prior experience as a licensed Medical Technologist is required.
  • A current New York State license is required.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze patient blood samples using current, moderately complex laboratory methods and instrumentation.
  • Adhere to established laboratory protocols and follow all safety rules and regulations.
  • Adhere to quality control and quality assurance protocols.
  • Report results of patient sample analysis.
  • Exercise professional discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform blood collection, patient blood processing, and urine sample processing, and assist with bone marrow procedures.
  • Perform and document instrument preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean, safety-oriented laboratory environment.
  • Work independently and as part of an integrated healthcare team comprising doctors, advanced practitioners, nurses, and medical secretaries.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with phlebotomy and patient interaction is preferred.
  • Medical Technologist certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists is desired.
