Requirements
  • A valid Kansas Nurse Practitioner license is required for work in Kansas.
  • A valid Oklahoma Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive authority is required for work in Oklahoma or Columbus WIC, and may be required for other APRNs depending on location and practice.
  • A valid Kansas Registered Nurse license or a multistate license in the nurse’s state of residence is required; an Oklahoma Registered Nurse license may be required if no multistate license is held.
  • Graduation from an accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner program is required.
  • Current board certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners is required.
  • DOT certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire and recertified every 10 years when required by the position or practice.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification is required for Pleasanton providers and WIC providers in Fort Scott and Pittsburg.
  • The role requires knowledge of appropriate patient care, the ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively, computer literacy, and the ability to navigate the Electronic Health Record.
  • The role requires maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with organizational policy and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements.
  • The role requires the ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • The role requires commitment to serving underserved patients.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage patients’ medical plans of care based on agreements jointly developed and signed by the advanced practice provider and supervising physicians.
  • Provide complete, comprehensive outpatient care, including health examinations, treatment of medical conditions, and follow-up of detected problems.
  • Manage acute and chronic illnesses and routine care through coordinated care plans, including coordination with behavioral health providers when appropriate.
  • Make appropriate referrals to internal CHC/SEK disciplines and external resources or agencies for additional services.
  • Prescribe medications to treat patients’ conditions when indicated.
  • Provide clinical consultation to other CHC/SEK providers as needed.
  • Complete accurate, timely, and clear medical record documentation according to the Electronic Health Record Completion Policy.
  • Follow clinic protocols, guidelines, and the scope of practice established by professional regulatory agencies.
  • Provide follow-up through telephone or written correspondence with clinical support staff, including informing patients of test results.
  • Provide clear written and oral communication to patients, guardians, and employees.
  • Participate in an assigned on-call system for after-hours care for the CHC/SEK inpatient population.
  • Participate in quality-improvement activities.
  • Supervise healthcare students as assigned.
  • Float to alternate CHC/SEK facilities as needed to ensure appropriate access to care.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of experience in a clinic setting is preferred.
  • A strong community or public-health orientation is preferred.
