Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on server-side Java and Java Platform, Enterprise Edition development experience.
- Highly proficient with Java and Java Platform, Enterprise Edition, preferably with JBoss.
- Experience with Spring, Hibernate, ActiveMQ, and Oracle.
- Extensive experience with object-oriented programming.
- Proven experience developing transactional, eCommerce, or hosted web applications.
- Experience with performance tuning and analysis tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities
- Participate in coding tasks on large projects to stay familiar with the code.
- Collaborate with Architecture during the planning stage on architectural design of projects.
- Provide development estimates based on high-level requirements and complete the Scope Estimate Template.
- Take full ownership of projects and iterate with the Product Manager until the Product Requirements Document is signed off.
- Own product design and documentation while working with the Architect sponsor and cross-functional project team.
- Stay abreast of design standards and incorporate them into product design.
- Identify the need for performance testing early in a project and assess the potential performance impact of new features.
- Work with the load and performance team to keep performance impact within expected bounds, performing earlier performance tests when needed.
- Use performance analysis tools to trace performance and resource bottlenecks in project code.
- Facilitate code reviews and ensure they occur during the construction phase before code completion.
- Ensure unit test coverage metrics are met and nightly builds succeed.
- Ensure the team performs continuous automated builds and unit testing during development.
- Add and maintain the unit test suite to support a high level of code quality before the quality assurance phase.
- Manage the project bug queue and ensure quality assurance has a working test environment, resolving issues as necessary.
- Work cross-functionally with department leads to improve communication and efficiency.
- Review cross-functional estimates, quality assurance test plans, project management office plans, and release deployment plans for efficiency and cross-team accountability.
- Provide work leadership, including comprehensive task breakdowns and accurate estimates.
- Provide work status to Project and Development Managers and escalate issues promptly, resolving issues independently when possible.
- Work with the Network Operations Center to resolve post-production release issues promptly.
