Super Micro Computer (SMCI) Stock: Plunges 6.52% Despite Major NVIDIA Vera AI Rack Launch

Blockonomi 1 day ago 117 Tldr. * SMCI slides despite Supermicro unveiling its new NVIDIA Vera CPU rack for AI. * New liquid-cooled rack supports 22,500 agent sandboxes for large AI workloads. * Supermicro packs 256 NVIDIA Vera CPUs into a rack built for agentic AI tasks. * NVIDIA BlueField-4 and OpenShell add stronger security for AI agent operations. * New rack works alone or with Vera Rubin NVL72 as SMCI shares face selling pressure. Super Micro Computer (SMCI) stock plunged 6.52% to $33.25, losing $2.32 despite announcing a major NVIDIA Vera AI infrastructure expansion. Heavy selling erased earlier gains and pushed shares toward intraday lows. Meanwhile, the company introduced a liquid-cooled CPU rack to support growing demand for advanced artificial intelligence systems. Super Micro Computer, Inc., SMCI Supermicro expands NVIDIA Vera AI infrastructure portfolio. Super Micro Computer introduced its NVIDIA Vera CPU rack as part of its Data Center Building Block Solutions portfolio. The new system targets agentic AI, reinforcement learning, and large-scale data processing workloads. Additionally, the launch expands Supermicro's infrastructure offerings for companies developing high-performance AI data centers. The rack integrates 256 NVIDIA Vera CPUs and delivers 22,528 processing cores alongside 45,056 threads. Moreover, the system supports up to 22,500 simultaneous agent sandboxes within a single rack. This capacity allows businesses to run multiple AI tasks while managing complex computing operations. Supermicro also incorporated NVIDIA BlueField-4 processors to strengthen networking performance and hardware security. Furthermore, its DLC-2 cooling technology supports fully liquid-cooled operations across the rack. The design addresses rising power and cooling requirements as companies expand their AI infrastructure. NVIDIA partnership strengthens AI Data Center capabilities. Supermicro designed the new CPU rack to operate independently or alongside NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 systems. This flexibility allows data center operators to expand computing capacity according to specific workload requirements. Meanwhile, the shared infrastructure supports more consistent deployment across large AI facilities. The company adopted NVIDIA's third-generation MGX architecture to simplify system integration and infrastructure management. Additionally, customers can select conventional AC power or an 800-volt DC power configuration. The alternative power design supports battery backup units and can reduce equipment space requirements. Supermicro also added support for NVIDIA OpenShell to strengthen security across autonomous AI operations. The technology applies access controls and monitors agent activity during execution. Furthermore, NVIDIA Sentry uses BlueField-4 hardware to identify policy violations and isolate unauthorized activity. SMCI stock declines despite expanding AI product portfolio. SMCI shares declined sharply despite the company's latest product announcement and continued NVIDIA collaboration. Selling pressure dominated the trading session and reversed gains recorded earlier in the day. Consequently, the decline overshadowed Supermicro's expansion into high-density CPU infrastructure for AI workloads. Supermicro continues developing infrastructure for enterprise computing, AI processing, storage, and edge applications. Its latest platform also supports database management, data analytics, software development, and cluster scheduling. Additionally, compatibility with Kubernetes and Slurm broadens its applications beyond dedicated AI factories. The NVIDIA Vera launch strengthens Supermicro's product lineup as demand for specialized data center equipment expands. However, the announcement failed to prevent a substantial decline in SMCI shares. The contrasting developments highlight the gap between the company's infrastructure expansion and its latest stock performance. Supermicro could be at the center of the next AI spending wave.

Supermicro could be at the center of the next AI spending wave. Supermicro just booked a record order backlog while its stock sits near 52-week lows, trading at a fraction of what rivals Dell and Arista command. Whether that gap represents a rare opportunity or a value trap depends on one critical... Shares of Super Micro Computer (NASDAQ:SMCI | SMCI Price Prediction) trade at $32.07 at midday. The 24/7 Wall St. price target for Supermicro is $40.06 over the next 12 months, which means 24.85% upside. Our model rates the stock a buy with high confidence. 24/7 Wall St. Price Target summary. | Metric | Value | | Current Price | $32.07 | | Price Target from 24/7 Wall St. $40.06 | | Upside/Downside | 24.85% | | Recommendation | BUY | | Confidence Level | 90% | Management booked over $60 billion in new orders and guided fiscal 2027 revenue to $65 billion to $72 billion. Yet the stock trades at 10x forward earnings. I think the recent selloff leaves plenty of room for upside in one of the most direct ways to own the AI data center buildout. A sharp october slide follows a record order book. Supermicro is down 19.78% over the past week and 17.96% over the past month. Shares are still up 9.57% year to date. The stock sits about 42% below its 52-week high of $55.35 and about 65% above its low of $19.48. Key data−. Previous Close Market Cap Day's Range 52wk Range Dividend Yield The fiscal fourth quarter report, released August 11, 2026, came in light on revenue and strong on profit. Revenue rose 93.2% YoY to $11.12 billion, missing the $11.56 billion consensus. Management called the shortfall "purely a timing story" linked to customers' power and cooling preparation. Non-GAAP EPS of $1.70 beat the $0.9575 estimate. On August 20, 2026, Supermicro reported finishing an independent export compliance investigation, which found no evidence it directly sold export-controlled products to known restricted parties. In September, working with NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA), it began shipping NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72 racks. Why bulls see $46 within reach. In our bull scenario, SMCI reaches $46.31, a 44.33% return. That depends on converting the backlog into sales. Management expects greater than 80% of future revenue to come from AI. Manufacturing capacity is on track to exceed 6,000 racks per month. Customer breadth is also improving: nine customers exceeded $1 billion in fiscal 2026 sales, up from four a year earlier. Enterprise and channel revenue rose 172% YoY. Chief executive Charles Liang said the data center building block line "will be our long-term much better profit margin product line." Cash burn is what could go wrong. The bear case places the stock near $32 a year from now. Operations used $6.8 billion in fiscal 2026, and the cash conversion cycle extended to 149 days. One customer made up 28% of revenue. Free Report, Just Released Why Didn't SMCI Make The Top 10 List? 24/7 Wall St has helped investors make money for over two decades, and our top analysts just finished ranking the definitive Top 10 Stocks To Buy Now. Not the ten biggest companies. Not the ten everyone is arguing about. The ten best stocks to buy right now. And SMCI didn't make the cut! The report is free, and you can see why we think each stock is a top investment today. Wall Street remains cautious, with 11 Hold ratings. Guidance for a Q1 non-GAAP gross margin of 10.4% to 10.8% also shows that Q4's margin included non-recurring benefits. Bulls would argue that the cash outflow paid for inventory needed to fill record orders. A $5.6 billion equity raise also cut net debt to $1.2 billion. Supermicro trades at a steep discount to Dell and Arista. Dell Technologies (NYSE:DELL) is Supermicro's most direct AI server rival. Shares trade at 21x forward earnings and 1.899x sales. That is a rich premium to SMCI for a company selling similar hardware. Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET) depends on the same hyperscaler spending through data center switching. It commands 39x forward earnings, a premium that reflects its software-like margins. Together, these peers make our target look conservative (we covered seven more AI infrastructure suppliers, from power to networking, in a free report you can grab here). | Company | Forward P/E | Price-to-Sales | | Supermicro | 10x | 0.524x | | Dell | 21x | 1.899x | | Arista | 39x | 21.18x | Valuation tips the scale toward upside. Our 24/7 Wall St. price target of $40.06 carries a buy rating and 90% confidence. Valuation is what tips the scale. The bull case strengthens if the next earnings report shows Q1 revenue within the $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion guide. The thesis weakens if shipments slip again. At this price, the potential reward outweighs the risk. Beyond the near term, here is where our model projects Supermicro could trade if current trends hold. | Year | Price Target from 24/7 Wall St. | | 2026 | $33.60 | | 2027 | $41.48 | | 2028 | $47.31 | | 2029 | $51.25 | | 2030 | $57.43 | Supermicro needs to keep executing on its AI rack strategy for these estimates to hold. Faster margin expansion or extended cash burn could move results well beyond this range. Got $1,000? Before you buy SMCI, read this. Super Micro's $19B quarter surprise lifts case for buying Nvidia stock at $220

Super Micro Computer raised its guidance for the first quarter of fiscal 2027, saying revenue should reach $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion. In August, it had forecast $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion. The server maker credited "increased demand for AI platforms," and its shares rose about 9%. The midpoint of about $19 billion is almost four times the $5.0 billion it posted a year earlier. It now expects a gross margin of 12% to 12.5%, up from an earlier outlook of 10.4% to 10.8%. The figures are preliminary and unaudited. Full results are due November 3. Super Micro leads its AI lineup with Nvidia's Blackwell systems, so the result bodes well for Nvidia, which has forecast $108.0 billion in revenue for its fiscal third quarter. Nvidia trades near $220, about 14 times expected fiscal 2028 earnings.
