Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required, and the degree must be ABET accredited.
  • At least 8–12 or more years of advanced Mechanical Engineering experience is required for Level IV.
  • Experience defining mechanical system architectures reused across multiple products or programs is required.
  • Deep familiarity with compliance, certification, and safety-critical design processes is required.
  • Experience balancing schedule, cost, performance, and manufacturability constraints is required.
  • Experience owning technical decisions with significant cost or safety impact is required.
  • Demonstrated technical mastery is required.
  • CAD experience is required.
  • The ability to stand and sit for extended periods is required.
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment is required.
  • The ability to occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds is required.
  • The ability to work in office, shop, and vehicle environments is required.
  • The ability to work safely around energized systems when required is required.
  • The ability to travel occasionally is required.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and support mechanical systems for vehicles and platforms.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, safety standards, and customer requirements.
  • Support manufacturing by answering technical questions, resolving build issues, and improving design clarity.
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, validation, and root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Project Management teams.
  • Apply continuous improvement principles to improve product quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
  • Create CAD documentation for top-level assemblies, subassemblies, and parts.
  • Use finite element analysis to analyze stress, create verification tests, document analyses, and optimize designs.
  • Create, implement, supervise, and document tests verifying that designs meet customer requirements.
  • Complete analyses, documentation, and drawings required for production within established time frames.
  • Communicate with vendors and clients to troubleshoot designs and obtain component specifications, drawings, and models.
  • Track and record work hours for each project daily.
  • Own mechanical system architecture across multiple product lines or platforms.
  • Set organizational design standards, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Lead high-risk or highly complex engineering efforts from concept through production.
  • Drive design decisions affecting safety, reliability, compliance, and scalability.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for mechanical systems.
  • Coach and mentor engineers across all levels.
  • Influence engineering strategy, tooling, and long-term technical direction.
  • Travel as needed and perform additional assigned duties.

  • SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Experience leading cross-disciplinary technical initiatives spanning engineering, manufacturing, and product strategy is desirable.
  • Experience leading multi-year technical initiatives with cross-functional dependencies is desirable.
  • Experience evaluating and adopting new technologies aligned with business strategy is desirable.
  • Experience mentoring senior engineers and developing future technical leaders is desirable.
