Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacists in the safe, accurate, and efficient preparation and distribution of medications and supplies throughout the hospital.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare labels and medications, including IV products, oral medications, medication cassettes, and floor stock, under pharmacist supervision.

• Prepare and deliver narcotics and controlled substances in accordance with department policies and regulatory requirements.

• Fill and maintain medication cassettes, floor stock requests, and emergency/code carts.

• Receive, verify, stock, and maintain inventory of medications and pharmaceutical supplies.

• Deliver medications and supplies to nursing units and other hospital departments as needed.

• Maintain accurate records, controlled-substance inventories, and required documentation.

• Prepare basic pharmaceutical and disinfectant solutions as directed.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with infection control standards.

• Assist with prescription filling and medication prepackaging under the direction of a pharmacist.

• Perform other duties as assigned to support pharmacy operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensure/Certification:

• Current national Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB or NHA) or licensed Pharmacy Intern required.

Experience:

• Two years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Posted Salary Range

USD $38.19 - USD $38.19 /Hr.
