About the job

Requirements
  • Strong foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, routing, and VLANs.
  • Hands-on experience designing and operating Layer 2/Layer 3 switches, routers, and firewalls.
  • Proven track record in network troubleshooting and issue isolation.
  • Operational experience with on-premises environments, including Linux servers and NAS storage.
  • Experience coordinating with telecom carriers and network vendors.
  • Ability to design and operate networks with a security-first mindset.
  • Willingness to learn existing architectures and expand into AWS design, modification, and testing.
  • At least 1.5 years of practical experience with AWS or Google Cloud infrastructure for the cloud-specialist profile.
  • AWS or Google Cloud certification at Associate level or equivalent for the cloud-specialist profile.
  • Experience driving projects forward, such as through PMO, project lead, or stakeholder coordination responsibilities, for the cloud-specialist profile.
  • Willingness to expand into on-premises systems, private networks, and branch networks for the cloud-specialist profile.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, routing, and VLANs, is assessed during the interview.
  • Ability to balance technical judgment and design review with end-to-end project execution.
  • Ability to explain the reasoning behind technical decisions.
  • Willingness to broaden technical scope across on-premises/private networks and AWS, and to understand the existing environment before making safe, reliable changes.
  • Ability to take initiative, verify details independently, and make sound engineering judgments.
Responsibilities
  • Design and operate internal LANs, branch networks, and private (closed) networks.
  • Define network requirements for new office setups, relocations, and floor expansions.
  • Determine hardware configurations and equipment sizing based on user and device counts, traffic volume, required bandwidth, port density, PoE requirements, redundancy, and wireless access point density.
  • Design and operate Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks.
  • Configure and maintain VLANs, routing protocols, and firewall rules.
  • Operate and manage FortiGate and Cisco Meraki hardware.
  • Design and review connections between on-premises/private networks and AWS network components, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, security groups/NACLs, VPN, and Direct Connect.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and manage incident response.
  • Coordinate with telecom carriers and network vendors.
  • Plan and manage network projects, including issue tracking, progress monitoring, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Operate on-premises infrastructure, including Linux servers and NAS storage.
  • Create and maintain network topology diagrams and standard operating procedures.
  • Design and operate networks with a focus on information security best practices.
  • Drive network projects end to end and take ownership of the network domain.
  • In the medium to long term, design and review branch networks, private networks, on-premises infrastructure, and AWS connectivity as one cohesive network architecture; handle requirements and equipment sizing for new offices and lead network project planning and execution.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience defining network requirements for new office setups, relocations, or floor expansions based on user count, device density, and traffic volume.
  • Experience sizing routers, firewalls, switches, and wireless access points based on bandwidth, port counts, PoE budgets, redundancy, and access point density.
  • Track record of planning network projects, managing issues and schedules, and coordinating stakeholders.
  • Understanding of AWS networking concepts, including VPC, subnet, route table, security group/NACL, VPN, and Direct Connect, and ability to discuss architecture, routing, and constraints between on-premises/private networks and AWS.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating AWS network environments.
  • Experience designing and operating hybrid connections between on-premises infrastructure and AWS using Direct Connect.
  • Experience designing network architectures that combine private networks with cloud environments.
  • AWS or Google Cloud certifications for candidates applying through the on-premises profile.
  • Hands-on setup and operation experience with FortiGate firewalls and Cisco Meraki devices.
  • Practical experience with VPN implementations and SD-WAN technologies.
  • Experience designing and managing enterprise Wi-Fi/wireless LAN systems.
  • Experience building Linux servers and NAS/storage infrastructure.
  • Technical knowledge of Google Cloud networking capabilities.
  • Experience operating networks in compliance with ISMS/security standards, along with network monitoring, log analysis, or SOC operations.
  • Ability to communicate in English for basic technical discussions; fluent business English is not required.
  • Ability to clearly explain and justify hardware configurations and sizing based on branch requirements.

About the company

AI Robot Association is best understood as an open research association working on foundation models for robotics. Researchers and engineers build datasets, training systems, evaluation methods, and embodied artificial-intelligence software. Its initiative brings together motion data, vision-language-action research, model development, and humanoid-robot experimentation. Roles may span machine learning, robotics, data engineering, simulation, infrastructure, research operations, and partnerships. The entity has a limited public footprint, so the profile stays close to its official research and recruiting materials.

What believers are saying

  • On 2026-08-03, AIRoA released 5,000 hours of robot motion data and a foundation model.
  • On 2026-08-04, it consolidated at a 3,500 m² Heiwajima facility, signaling execution.
  • Its 2026-02-10 ICRA workshop and RSJ 2026 talks widen partner demand and visibility.

What critics are saying

  • AIRoA depends on public programs like NEDO and GENIAC, exposing it to budget cuts.
  • Open-data coordination among members can stall, while DeepMind and NVIDIA race ahead.
  • If members stop contributing data, AIRoA’s ecosystem model loses scale and relevance quickly.

What makes AI Robot Association unique

  • AIRoA launched in 2024 as Japan’s open robot-data consortium, not a single vendor.
  • It combines academia, industry, and METI-NEDO-backed projects around robot foundation models.
  • Its Heiwajima hub centralizes R&D and corporate functions across Tokyo, Miraikan, and Kyoto.
