FirstOntario Credit Union launches open banking with FIS Everlink and Flinks

FirstOntario Credit Union has launched Open Banking infrastructure through FIS Everlink and Flinks, enabling its 132,000 members to securely share financial data with third-party apps. The activation follows Canada's Consumer-Driven Banking Act receiving Royal Assent in March 2026. The solution uses Flinks Outbound's consent-based data-sharing infrastructure, delivered through Everlink's Digital Solutions platform. FirstOntario, which manages $8.2 billion in assets, selected the partners in January 2024, positioning itself as an early mover in Canada's credit union sector ahead of regulatory requirements. The system allows members to grant third-party access to account and transaction data with full security and transparency. Over 300 fintechs are already connected through Flinks Outbound's network.
