Requirements
  • Experience working in a higher education setting translating data into actionable insights.
  • A working knowledge of contemporary challenges in higher education and STEM disciplines, including fluency in issues affecting students in science and higher education.
  • Strong time and project management skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Strong data presentation skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Fluency in the information systems that house student data, including LionPath, Canvas, and Starfish, and working knowledge of educational structures such as campuses, colleges, programs, entrance-to-major processes, and university policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of iTwo, eSTeward, LionSpace (FIS), SIMBA, Microsoft Power BI, and other Microsoft Office software.
  • Skill with Qualtrics.
  • Knowledge of legacy Penn State data systems such as Data Warehouse.
  • A Bachelor's Degree.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities
  • Retrieve and analyze data from institutional data sources to provide reports and information to college leadership for planning, assessment, and performance improvements across the college.
  • Collaborate with college personnel to support strategic planning efforts, including developing key performance indicators and establishing qualitative and quantitative metrics informed by available data and institutional knowledge.
  • Design, write, and analyze survey data.
  • Serve as a consultant to college units by providing facilitation and training in data gathering, interpretation, and utilization.
  • Provide consultation to college offices on assessment initiatives, assist stakeholders in understanding and utilizing results, and enhance assessment of learning outcomes associated with co-curricular programs and services.
  • Partner with the college IT team to develop and maintain a secure data repository to support analysis for college stakeholders.
  • Contribute to projects and ad hoc analyses, maintaining responsiveness and adaptability in data extraction and determining the appropriate scope of required data.
  • Serve on college or university committees to support college initiatives.
