  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in satellite ground systems, mission integration, systems engineering, technical sales, mission operations, software platform engineering, government aerospace programs, spacecraft systems, or a related field.
  • Experience working with complex technical systems that require coordination across software, hardware, operations, customer, and program stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand a technical system deeply and translate customer or mission needs into executable architecture, requirements, scope, and delivery plans.
  • Experience supporting customer-facing technical work such as solution architecture, technical proposals, design reviews, requirements discussions, integration planning, or technical program execution.
  • Familiarity with satellite operations, telemetry and tracking concepts, ground system architectures, mission operations workflows, or spacecraft-to-ground interfaces.
  • Strong technical communication skills, including the ability to write clearly, present technical concepts, and create structured documentation.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • An active Top Secret clearance is required on day one.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for customer opportunities by understanding the customer's mission, CONOPS, operational needs, interfaces, constraints, and success criteria.
  • Lead solution architecture for commercial and government opportunities.
  • Partner with sales and business development teams to shape deal strategy, technical scope, proposal approach, and customer-facing solution narratives.
  • Support technical proposal development, including RFI/RFP responses, compliance matrices, architecture descriptions, technical volumes, BOEs, demos, and customer design reviews.
  • Translate customer mission needs into technical solutions aligned with platform capabilities, product roadmap, engineering capacity, and delivery approach.
  • Identify product gaps, integration risks, and architectural tradeoffs early in the opportunity lifecycle and drive alignment across internal teams.
  • Support customer meetings, technical interchange meetings, site visits, conferences, and program reviews as needed.
  • Own the systems engineering process and outcomes for assigned missions, with rigor tailored to the customer and program.
  • Lead or coordinate requirements development, requirements management, interface definition, architecture documentation, verification planning, and acceptance criteria.
  • Own the verification and validation process across mission threads, including commanding, telemetry, automation, mission data flows, operational workflows, and mission-specific analytics.
  • Coordinate verification and validation execution across product, software engineering, forward-deployed engineering, customer, and program stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain mission-relevant systems engineering artifacts such as requirements documents, interface control documents, CONOPS, verification matrices, test plans, acceptance plans, and architecture models.
  • Support formal systems engineering approaches for government programs, including traceability, documentation discipline, model-based systems engineering, and structured technical reviews.
  • Ensure technical decisions are clearly documented, communicated, and aligned across customer, engineering, product, and delivery teams.
  • Advise product strategy and roadmap direction based on recurring customer needs, mission patterns, and technical gaps observed across opportunities and integrations.
  • Distinguish between one-off mission-specific needs and repeatable platform capabilities that should influence product direction.
  • Work with product and engineering teams to define feature requirements, technical priorities, and architectural considerations for mission-driven capabilities.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the platform, software architecture, deployment models, and technical constraints in order to represent the product accurately and credibly to customers.
  • Help ensure the platform evolves to support a broad range of mission classes, customer environments, and operational models.
  • Function as a Mission Architect alongside the Chief Engineer, Software Architect, and other technical leaders.
  • Bridge customer needs, sales strategy, product capabilities, software implementation, and delivery execution.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to customers, executives, engineers, operators, and program stakeholders.
  • Drive alignment across teams in ambiguous or fast-moving situations.
  • Help establish scalable practices, templates, and technical patterns for future opportunities and missions.
Desired Qualifications
  • 8–12+ years of experience for senior or principal-level candidates.
  • Prior experience with government space programs, classified programs, or formal aerospace systems engineering processes.
  • Experience with technical proposal development, RFP/RFI responses, compliance matrices, solution narratives, or scope definition.
  • Experience with requirements management, verification and validation planning, acceptance testing, interface control documents, CONOPS, model-based systems engineering, and technical review processes.
  • Familiarity with Cameo, SysML, Git-based engineering workflows, or similar systems engineering and documentation approaches.
  • Experience with cloud-based ground systems, modern software platforms, application programming interfaces, automation, and satellite operations software.
  • Ability to code or script when needed, especially for analysis, test automation, system configuration, prototyping, or workflow acceleration.
  • Comfort using modern artificial intelligence tools to improve technical analysis, documentation, proposal development, systems engineering workflows, and engineering productivity.
  • Experience with containerized or cloud deployments, such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, or AWS GovCloud.

Quindar v0.37 brings meaningful improvements across planning, flight dynamics, and day-to-day operator workflows. This release is centered on a simple outcome: giving mission teams more visibility, more control, and more efficient ways to manage complex operations. From smarter fleet scheduling to automated stationkeeping and a redesigned navigation experience, v0.37 helps teams move faster while staying mission-ready. Better fleet planning and contact scheduling. Planning workflows are only as effective as the clarity they provide. In v0.37, Quindar adds new capabilities that make it easier to work through dense schedules and focus on the contacts that matter most. Teams can now filter contact metadata directly on the timeline using fields such as ground station provider and antenna. That makes it easier to review large scheduling plans across multiple providers, antennas, and assets without losing time scanning for the right information. Quindar also introduces preset timeframes for fleet scheduling. Operators can quickly choose common scheduling windows like 1 day, 3 days, or 7 days, or select a custom range when a mission requires more flexibility. The result is a faster, more intuitive scheduling workflow with fewer invalid submissions and less manual setup. Together, these updates strengthen Quindar's role as mission management software built for modern space operations. Mission teams get a clearer common operating picture and more control over how planning decisions are made. More flexible task sequencing for operators. Operators can now append or prepend tasks from more areas of the product, including Requests, Draft Queues, and Contact Tasks. Added confirmation behavior for critical tasks also helps prevent accidental insertion of high-impact actions. This update supports more flexible operational planning by allowing teams to add tasks before or after existing work depending on mission needs, operational context, and urgency. Quindar now supports stationkeeping using semi-major axis as the control metric. Operators can define stationkeeping thresholds for each spacecraft, and every time updated OD and propagation data is available, Quindar automatically determines if an spacecraft is expected to violate its configured stationkeeping limits. When a violation is detected, Quindar can generate stationkeeping maneuver options, select a maneuver based on fuel usage and ignition timing, and package the required maneuver files into a spacecraft task for uplink. This is an important step forward for teams managing growing fleets and increasingly complex operational demands. Quindar, an Arvada, Colorado-based company powering autonomous and scalable mission control across hybrid space systems, this week announced an agreement with Bothell-based Portal Space Systems in which the companies will enable autonomous mission planning, tasking, and execution for government and commercial operators. Under the agreement, Quindar will integrate its mission operations service with Portal's Starburst and Supernova spacecraft to provide dynamic mission planning, command and control, flight dynamics, rapid tasking, and automation at scale. Together, the partnership enables a faster transition from deployment to operational use, unlocking more responsive, mission-ready space operations, according to a news release from Quindar. Portal is building maneuverable spacecraft for rapid deployment and tasks across multiple orbits. The integrated capability will debut on Portal's first free-flying Starburst mission, manifested on SpaceX's Transporter-18 in the fourth quarter, marking the first of multiple missions where the companies will deliver integrated, mission-ready capability. "Portal is building a new class of rapidly maneuverable spacecraft designed for dynamic missions," Nate Hamet, co-founder and CEO of Quindar, said in this week's release. "Pairing Portal's maneuverability with Quindar's automation-first mission operations platform enables operators to plan, task, and execute missions on timelines traditional systems cannot support." As space becomes more dynamic and contested, government operators need systems that can maneuver, respond, and re-task quickly. Portal's high-agility spacecraft provide the maneuverability required for these missions, while Quindar's mission operations service enables faster planning, tasking, and execution. This approach delivers capability on Day 1, supported by software that provides continuous awareness, dynamic planning, rapid-cycle tasking, and resilient command and control across Portal's maneuverable spacecraft fleet, the release continued. "Differentiated missions require differentiated operations, but that doesn't mean building entirely new systems for each one," Jeff Thornburg, CEO of Portal Space Systems, added in a statement. "Quindar's platform allows us to field capability faster by simplifying and automating mission control, ensuring we can deliver mission-ready systems on operational timelines. The partnership builds on that foundation, bringing together two companies developing technologies that are directly relevant to federal missions and now working in concert to support more dynamic and responsive space operations. Portal announced in April that it raised $50 million in Series A funding in a round led by Geodesic Capital and Mach33, with participation from Booz Allen Ventures and others. "Booz Allen Ventures invests in companies developing mission-ready technologies that can deliver operational advantage at speed and scale," Travis Bales, director of Booz Allen Ventures, said in the Quindar release. "As both an investor and mission partner, we recognized early on that Portal and Quindar were building highly complementary capabilities aligned to the future of national security space missions. This partnership reflects the value of bringing together innovative technologies and teams to help enable more agile and responsive space operations." Quindar in February announced a deal with another area company, Tukwila-based Starfish Space. Quindar will support operations for Starfish's first three Otter missions, providing secure, automated mission control infrastructure designed to reduce operational complexity and costs. The Quindar platform is already in use on a Starfish satellite on orbit.
