Requirements
  • Knowledge of all aspects of the Electrical Worker trade.
  • Mastery of National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) electrical course content.
  • Project leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork-oriented, and facilitative approach.
  • Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning.
  • Strong oral, written, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
  • Knowledge of power and hand tools related to the craft or trade.
  • Ability to demonstrate the proper use of power and hand tools related to the specific trade or craft safely.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 4 years of documented electrician experience at the journeyman level, including at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role, with verification of the responsibilities undertaken; or at least 3 years of experience as a certified teacher in a vocational, technical, construction, or maintenance-related training program.
  • An Electrical Worker Journeyman credential or equivalent.
  • An NCCER Instructor certification, or willingness to complete the NCCER Instructor Certification Training Program and obtain the appropriate NCCER CORE and Electrical Craft certifications.
  • Willingness to complete Green Apple Labs certification to teach Green Apple electrical labs.
  • Availability to meet classes at scheduled times and remain available to students outside class instruction.
  • Ability to work in a skilled trades laboratory that may involve high noise and weather-related working conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Teach Electrical Worker courses at a variety of times.
  • Submit required reports and forms to the Administrative Office in a timely manner.
  • Assist in developing and utilizing the course syllabus for each course.
  • Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, through electronic communication, or by other appropriate methods.
  • Evaluate students' progress toward course objectives and inform them of their progress in a timely manner.
  • Maintain professional relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Improve instructional quality by reviewing and using innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and orientations.
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned.
