About the job

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another related field.
  • Experience leading multiple engineering teams and developing Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, or senior technical specialists.
  • Experience delivering complex enterprise solutions from discovery and architecture through production and continuous improvement.
  • Strong technical depth in Java and/or Python, application programming interfaces, microservices, cloud-native and full-stack delivery, continuous integration and continuous delivery, testing, secure development, and observability.
  • Practical experience introducing AI-assisted engineering tools, including adoption, evaluation, and governance, and working knowledge of generative and agentic AI integration, including evaluation, security, latency, and cost.
  • Experience advising senior stakeholders, managing delivery risk, and linking technology decisions to business outcomes.
  • Experience delivering in Financial Services or similarly regulated environments, including security, auditability, and operational resilience.
  • Ability to prioritize and lead multiple pods in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with travel as required.
  • Strong written and oral communication for executives and engineers; publishing and presentation skills are a plus.
  • Engineering judgment to turn ambiguous needs into designs and plans, challenge architecture, and resolve delivery issues.
  • Practical, responsible AI judgment that balances value and speed with quality, security, and privacy.
  • Collaborative leadership that supports learning, inclusion, and accountability across onshore and global teams.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee multiple pods of 15–25 or more engineers, including Engineering Managers and Tech Leads, across client solutions, product domains, or core financial platforms.
  • Act as the technical counterpart to VP/SVP sponsors, audit leadership, and C-suite stakeholders, with accountability for execution, operational readiness, and client outcomes.
  • Coach Engineering Managers, Staff Engineers, and Tech Leads; drive hiring, succession, and inclusion; and build pods with Data and AI and Cyber specialists across onshore and global teams while growing career paths and AI fluency.
  • Advise executives on digital transformation, AI-enabled solutions, agentic engineering practices, and long-term technology investment.
  • Translate trade-offs, modernization, and capital expenditure needs into executive business cases and board-level presentations.
  • Lead technical discussions in internal audits, regulatory reviews, and key client interactions, including discussions of AI governance.
  • Direct the multi-year architecture roadmap across Java, Python, and full-stack platforms; govern the application programming interface lifecycle, cloud-native modernization, multi-region failover, and zero-trust security; and guide build-versus-buy decisions and non-functional requirements.
  • Define and operationalize an AI-first software development lifecycle strategy with AI-assisted and agentic workflows, governance, intellectual property protection, delivery and quality metrics, AI cost and return-on-investment models, human review, automated validation, and privacy and security controls measured against baselines.
  • Integrate generative and agentic AI where there is a clear business case, partnering with Data and AI on models, grounding, and evaluation, and owning production engineering for access, data, quality, latency, cost, and oversight.
  • Turn client needs into prototypes and production solutions, and build documented reusable components, reference architectures, and accelerators with the Innovation team.
  • Shape opportunities with account and sector teams through proposals, requests for proposals, and demonstrations, providing credible approaches, estimates, staffing models, and risks that become executable delivery plans.
  • Own delivery across pods, including scope, dependencies, quality, risk, budget, timelines, release readiness, observability, production support, and handover.
  • Agree success measures with clients and track value, adoption, reliability, and continuous improvement after launch.
  • Guide transformations from legacy monoliths to contract-driven microservices and stream-aligned squads.
  • Embed AI-enabled ways of working through training, adoption support, and clear accountability; sequence change to protect business continuity and measure impact on delivery and client outcomes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Production AI-enabled applications or agentic workflows with evaluation and human oversight.
  • Experience with consulting pursuits, solution proposals, technical demonstrations, and delivery estimates.
  • Experience creating reusable assets, accelerators, or platforms adopted by multiple teams, and coordinating onshore and global delivery teams.
  • Relevant cloud, architecture, security, or AI certifications backed by delivery experience.

US oil producers hit record output as capital spending drops 49% and reserve replacement falls

An Ernst & Young study found US oil and gas producers reached record production in 2025 while becoming more selective with investments. The analysis of 30 major exploration and production companies, representing 43% of US oil and gas output, showed oil production hit a study-period high, yet reserve additions from extensions and discoveries declined 11% year over year and failed to fully replace production volumes for the first time since 2021. Total capital expenditures fell 49% year over year, whilst M&A spending declined 70%. Exploration spending dropped 11% to $4.8 billion, representing only 3% of total capital expenditures. EY commits $100M to bonuses rewarding human skills alongside AI adoption

Ernst & Young's US division is allocating $100 million this fiscal year to bonus payments rewarding employees who demonstrate adaptability, innovation, and judgement. Individual spot awards reach $500, whilst employees or teams making significant contributions can receive between $10,000 and $25,000, five times the previous programme's ceiling. The initiative also covers AI experimentation. "What we recognise signals what we value," said Ginnie Carlier, chief talent and culture officer for EY Americas. The bonuses form part of a broader strategy to reshape employee development across all career levels. Other professional services firms are pursuing similar approaches. KPMG restructured its audit internship this summer to emphasise critical thinking, whilst PwC US introduced training combining AI proficiency with human qualities like empathy. EY reported AI-related revenue grew 30% year-over-year in 2025.
