Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering is required.
  • A Professional Engineer license is preferred, or the ability to become licensed within 6–12 months in Minnesota is required.
  • Five to fifteen years of experience working as a Civil Engineer, primarily on transportation-focused projects, is required.
  • Strong project management skills and experience are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, or the ability to obtain one.
  • The ability to work independently and in a team environment is required.
  • The ability to work scheduled and required hours, operate a computer under normal ergonomic office conditions, occasionally work at outdoor construction sites, and lift objects weighing 50 pounds is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide professional engineering services, including planning, design, specifications, plans, reports, construction observation, and project management.
  • Communicate with supervisors and project team members by providing updates and progress reports during all project phases.
  • Attend company, project, and client meetings.
  • Contribute to preparing proposals and participating in interviews to secure work for the firm.
  • Think independently and make rational judgment calls.
  • Provide direction to engineering technicians and other team members in developing project plans and specifications.
  • Follow the company employee handbook and mandated safety policies.
  • Perform responsibilities in a conscientious, legal, and ethical manner with attention to detail.
  • Participate in professional organizations and community leadership programs.
  • Manage projects independently and collaboratively contribute to the design and development of project plans and specifications.
  • Support business development activities for transportation services.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working as a consultant or for a state agency on Minnesota Department of Transportation, State-Aid, or County-Aid projects in Minnesota.
  • Knowledge and experience with Minnesota Department of Transportation Prequalification submittals.
  • Experience with professional engineering licensure.
